^^ Anyone know what those 1.6 litre Mazda MX3's are like on juice? I know somebody mentioned a few pages back that the 1.5 litre Mazda 323 F from the same era are heavy enough on it.

I'd have to agree, the white on them just doesn't seem to work in my opinion

A dealer based in a Portacabin wouldn't exactly give me great peace of mind :p

The mx3 1.6? They weigh about as much as a starlet, are they really that thirsty? :-(

I went to look at a car there years ago, guy tried to tell me it belonged to his mechanic and that's why there was no warranty. Car was scrap anyway so I walked.

Starlets are actually quiet heavy on fuel as well. A corolla e11 which is a heavier car is lighter on fuel than them so I wouldnt go by weight.

Quantify please, for my own interest!

An e11 corolla has a diffrent fuel injection system to a starlet of the same era. So even though the starlet is lighter and has the same 4e-fe engine, it's still not as effecient as the corolla for the above reason.

My confusion is the same as langdang's here. How can a tiny light MX-3 with a tiny engine be heavy on fuel? From my own experience of 90s cars:

Micra 1.0 - very heavy commute into Dublin city centre from the outskirts + open driving mainly at the weekend - average 40MPG

Primera 1.6 - very heavy commute into Dublin city centre from the outskirts + open driving mainly at the weekend - average 30MPG

Surely the MX-3 would be somewhere in between these? Edit - just looked it up and the MX-3 is a lot heavier than I thought. Much closer to the Primera than to the Micra...

..... I reckon he was looking for some mpg data :)

I have a weak spot for those Seicentos. €675 asking, belt done and NCT until '14 would make someone a lovely cheap runabout :)

Crappy images but has some NCT, taxed until end of March, says there's a full FSH and mileage isn't crazy.

Would these be reasonably bullet proof? Anything to look out for?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 494 ✭✭Barry Barry

Bit overpriced for something with only 2 months test tbh.

sister gave me a loan of her starlet for a month, there a good few years ago, t'was surprisingly thirsty but at the time it was 98 cent a litre so, t'wasnt too bad at all on the pocket.
