I decided to start from scratch and now its up and running perfectly. I have read write access from windows & android devices and can remote to transmission from my phone to control torrents.
Write speeds are nothing to get excited about but I mainly want the PI for streaming content so writing will only be done occasionally.

I used this tutorial as it covered everything from powering a USB HDD through to DLNA

Thanks, thorough tutorials there, full link is /power-2-5-hard-drive-with-raspberry-pi-b/

No problem, I think my problems form before came from using tutorials across different sites (and my lack of linux knowledge:rolleyes:)

Really impressed with the PI now its running, had it downloading torrents last night and streaming 720p movies to 3 devices without any issues

    http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2395736/raspberry-pi-makes-history-as-sales-hit-five-million

"The announcement came via Twitter, where the official Raspberry Pi account boasted that the five million milestone makes it the big-selling computer manufacturer in the UK of all time."

Yea, I got 3 and I'm planning to get another one :D

Really liking the RPi2, some solid performance out of it. Having some problems with the MicroSD card where it sometimes won't boot to it but it's a cheap Transcend 16GB one so no biggie.

Anyways, I was bored today :pac:

Been playing with somebody else's Pi and now thinking about picking up a few myself. Looking at a blog where a guy clustered 40 of them(old B+'s), fun stuff but I wont be spending the 3K he did. But I might grab 5 or 6 and a switch. Any clean options for power distribution without a PSU for each?

Id say without a soldering iron the neatest job might be an anker 4 usb port charger from amazon, should have more than enough juice for the job.

An atx pc power supply (if you had one spare) would have enough power on the 5v rail to power a good few pis
