Are you looking forward to the snow this year AH? Or are you dreading it?

Personally I used to love it, but last year kind of ruined it for me. I live on a hill, and struggling to school every day trying not to fall was not fun. :( I'd imagine getting to college this year is going to be a lot worse; I hear maynooth completely freezes over in winter! :pac:

So what say you AH? Will you love or hate the snow this year?

did you get any of those ice grip things with metal studs on that slip over a shoe and give you some grip ? I was thinking of ordering some from amazon etc . Every other year the retail stores charge well over the odds plus have a limited supply

Adapt, it's easier than just giving out about it every year.

It never really affected me last year, bar from me having to wear more layers...

I cannot wait for the snow, icy roads, putting my life in danger every time I go to work.
Hope it starts soon, we might have a few burst pipes as well or no water.

Anything to break the monotony of Irish weather I welcome.

Hey, isn't it funny how we look out the window at heavy rain and act all surprised?

Hope it snows, the only difference it makes for me is I have to walk way slower to the DART station so as not to slip..the DART service is generally terrible these days so there won't be much of change there.

White roof tops and crunchy-snow walks more than make up for this.

A bit of it, fine, lovely - but the farce that was last year and the year before with hazardous driving conditions and frozen/burst pipes for a prolonged period? No thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,598 ✭✭✭aligator_am

I normally don't mind the snow but I've a broken ankle at the moment so I don't much fancy trying to hop around on the ice.

I'm thinking maybe if I can get some huskies and a sled then I'll be OK.

I'll hate it if it stops me getting home for Christmas. Took a few attempts last year :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,201 ✭✭✭✭Pherekydes

I went to Maynooth. The snow never sticks on campus. It's all the hot air.

Regarding the winter, it will start snowing in mid to late November and stay on the ground until mid February. Mean daytime temperatures will be -25.

We're all going to freeze to death. Or worse.

How does anyone know that it'll snow this early?
    Don't think it will.

Love it! I travel a fair distance to work and am always told not to attempt to come in when it's really bad. I got in trouble actually last year for going in on a particularly bad day. I need a day off and all my holidays went this year on non-holiday related stuff. Snow day would be perfect :D

Lucky you, understanding as my employer is, telling me to take six weeks of was not an option.

Snow doesn't affect me at all, have a 4x4 for getting around and my house is well insulated, if the water is shut off, its no big problem.
But snow affects my job and my employer lost a fortune last year because of it, so i'm hopping for a nice week of snow around mid january, wont effect business too much and i love playing outside with my dogs in the snow.
