    Looking at traffic cams http://www.dublincity.ie/dublintraffic/

It appears that most of the flooding has subsided.
edit: one camera has moved and is looking at flood water at Harolds cross.

Griffith ave and drumcondra seemed fine. I believe they were flooded in parts yesterday.

I'd like to see dumdrum today. I say there will be a lot of retail losses out there today.

Apparently loads of parts of my bus route are closed off, but Dublin Bus says it's operating as normal  think there's a chance my office may be flooded though, there was a heavy stream of water running down the hill when i was on my way home yesterday.

Very serious rain all right - and not just "a bit" of rain, which will no doubt be the cat-call when the blame games start. Unprecedented severity which we're not used to, hence not being set up for it. Ditto the snow of the last two winters.

severe weather in winter is now the norm for most countries. 'not being prepared' isn't an excuse anymore. roll on the blame game.

    Rain...it's The Bees.

It's raining for the first time in maybe 4 or 5 months here in Madrid today and people are overjoyed. Madrid suffers from a massive pollution problem and when you fly out of the airport, you see a thick layer of it covering the city. We needed this rain badly to wash that ****e away...but the rain tasted and smelled disgusting because of it and I came home with a smokers cough from inhaling it. Rain keeps Dublin's skies clean and it adds a bit of variation to the weather. Clear blue skies every-bleedin'-day gets on your tits after a while (I know, I know....gawd love me...)

And no weather small talk in Spain, which is a pain in the arse, frankly. "Very hot today, isn't it?"..."Eh of course it feckin' is you fool!".

Jeez, Eve, look at you talking sense and shít. :pac: Be gone from this thread! :P

Had a job interview yesterday, arrived at it looking a state with a severe case of trenchfoot. Good call on not wearing make-up for the interview, think the emotional wreck one isn't a good one! :D

Can feel a cold coming on now...

Was travelling to work from Dundalk to Cavan this morning, the road between Carrickmacross and Shercock is flooded almost entirely between the two towns, with some of the road ripped up in places and large stones swept down from hill sides. ****ing crazy.

Anyone know what the flooding is like in Fairview? I'm trying to figure out if my bus will run there. The site says it's running fine as far as I'm going, but the site is never very accurate...

Do not attempt to travel in Johns Road or Islandbridge. It is loony tunes. Wolfe tone Quay closing has stuffed Parkgate and the NCR Completely as all inbound N4 traffic and coynyngham road traffic is routing up Infirmary road but there is no traffic cops at Old Cabra road or Phibsboro so its backed up for miles.

    Dublin Traffic Cameras: http://www.dublincity.ie/dublintraffic/

John's Road / SCR, N32 and N11 (citybound) all look very busy.

And yet many buses using that route are down as operating as normal

Took me two hours to get home last night! If it's fine I usually walk the 35 minutes, but obviously had to take the bus. :(

Anyone know how traffic is moving northbound on the N11?
(In fact, is there a traffic update thread somewhere?)

From whereabouts? I came along it at about 7.15 from Foxrock to the city center, there was flooding around UCD which brought it down to 1 lane, but other than that it was moving fine.

[edit] From here though, it's looking pretty much like it's at a standstill since the rush hour traffic hit.

So did you have to go to work?

Showed up. Staff were all in main restaurant, ground floor staff are having to get workers in, two other floors are closed. So short answer is no, no work.

Took me 2 and a half hours last night to get from Baggot Street to Stoneybatter. I should have walked but I had no umbrella and not-at-all waterproof shoes :o Would have probably taken me a further 2 hours to get home to Dunshaughlin so stayed there for the night...looks like it's starting to get heavy again out there, if there's a repeat of yesterday evening again today I'll have a nervous breakdown :(
