Im fairly sure it initially had a sound board in it , maybe it was converted .cann ya give me pic of what exactly ya need and I'll have a looksy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 189 ✭✭tonyotonyo

Its that long wiring cable going from the smaller to bigger pcb.

on the bigger pcb there is only one connection. On the smaller pcb the cable splits into 2 connectors.

Not pictured, there is also a 3rd connector on the smaller pcb, that's where an audiopot is connected, again with a length of wiring so as it can be placed somewhere else in the cabinet. I'd be after that too!

Being a midway cabinet, yeah could have had other pcbs in there, there's a chance. Appreciate you having a look, thanks :)

How many pins on the big board connecting...and what connectors and how many pins are on the two on the left . I'll have a look tomorrow morn ..looks very familiar

Sorry for dragging it out, should have done this in the first place!

Below is the main pcb connection,

And below are the 2 connections on the soundboard,

    Fingers crossed :)

    So….

The Retro Collective had a talk recently about Arcade Raids and have put up a video.

Its a really good talk, but the most interesting part I'm sure for most of us on here is that it details the raid on Bob's Casino in Skerries from a few years back.

Forward to 43:54 for The Bob's Casino section.

For me personally, it's a bit of a difficult watch as I feel that Bob's could potentially have been saved, or, at the very least, the machines could (and should) have stayed in Ireland.

Curiously, unlike the other raid's mentioned, they don't go into detail of the location of Bob's - the map at the start of that section is also comically wrong. I've heard conflicting stories of there still being machines in the building left after that raid, so who knows?

I just had the brainfart of brainfart moments.

Spent the evening crimping a new cps2 harness. Connected it to my MiSTercade.

The MiSTercade controls stopped working, along with all the USB ports. Ahhh!

I freak out thinking I've shorted something with my wiring. Spend hours troubleshooting with both cabinets. Took off the top plate looking for shorts on the pcb. Built a new MiSTer.ini. nothing working. Definitely broke something.

Contact the dude who actually makes them, resigned to shipping it off to th US for a fix. He's incredibly sound, looks over a video I sent him of the issue.

Then it hits me - there's meant to be a USB cable connecting the Mister Pi to the MiSTercade. With the DE10 it's a bridge board but with the MIster Pi you use a cable instead.

Connect the cable and it's all working again.

    ...

    I actually have no words.

    I love those moments .

I was crimping the shyt3 out of connecters and wires for me touring car cab and then thought ..why the feck am I doing this for 50+ wires ...this was after wasting 3 hours .🫣 So I Just shoved them all into two terminal strips . I never have to swap them quickly and if I do I just undo a few screws .

Terminals for the win . Arcade toolbox essential

I was doing that very thing this evening trying to extend a cps2 harness with extra wire by crimping spade connectors together...fookin' hell I could have just used a terminal block like that! haha

Haaa yeah, I just copped after 3 hours of crimping bloody AMP UP pins and connectors and searched high and low for a few, found one from a broken shower I had and another in my mess of wires . Why I was doing it the way I was seemed sensible in my head ..but it sure wasn't . ..5 mins instead of 3+ hours

How's the Touring Car cab going actually? Have you managed to get any other games up and running?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭unky chop chop

Ahh the money pit continues ... Motor drive board went. Which is needed for mega adaptor . It relies on it for ffb.

So on look out for another ..which are about 200 quid. Haven't touched it since or tried configure mame with out it as I'm just p1ssed off and thinking of alternative methods . The monster motor still works for ffb so few other options I think . Me and her just need a break atm to get out heads clear and figure out what we want from the relationship 😁

That god damn cab bought for 150 quid all in and working was a poison chalice :(

Ah no! I was hoping you were going to say you were happily playing loads of driving games on it now.

I love tinkering about with them myself but yeah, there definitely comes a 'just **** work!!!' point with machines, particularly with something that big.

Can you at least do anything with it for now without that motor drive board?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭unky chop chop

Ahhh yeah will still work with out motor drive board ....just annoyed .ain't found the time to install a fresh PC and configure with mame and frontend .

Found a mini PC in my stash ..it has an i5 . Put 16gb ram in it and ssd. It only has onboard gpu though . Would that suffice ya think .lashing around model 2/3,Naomi games etc

Ive only set up mame on laptops before years ago and all model 2 /3 emus were muck. I presume tis come on a long way since .

I did try swag rally with m2 on a laptop other week ..i5 also and 16gb ram and seemed to work a charm...graphics and bit jaggedy I suppose though.didnt configure anything though

Are you outputting to a CRT? If so, the iGPU might be a problem there. Online guides usually recommend an ATI (AMD) GPU with Calamity drivers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭unky chop chop

Mmmm yeah crt monitor . What difference does that make to GPU processing compared to LCD? Surely GPU doesn't give a crap what visual output device is as long as its recognised ...it just does its work and sends it on its way ?.

    I wasn't aware..does it cause performance issues

Your GPU is outputting a digital signal. You need to convert it to analogue somehow. If you have VGA out, you might be grand. But then your GPU will need to support lower resolutions than 640x480 ("super resolutions"), depending on what your CRT supports.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭unky chop chop

Yeah monitor is 24hz same as most model 2/3 cabs ...vga from PC to video amp supplier to mega adaptor.

    This

    it better

Don't know what's going on with boards sorry .. my message was garbled and I couldn't edit it delete it until now ..coincidence that that header about boards changing to subscription has appeared .( Madness )

Anyway my above comment ..24hz monitor ..mega adaptor ...video amp.

Shouldnt make a blind difference if I'm connecting it to LCD or CRT as far as graphics card grunt is concerned from what i can see.

    This explains it better .

Your man Tibal is a legend and stuff they are doing over on French site https://www.gamoover.net is ground breaking

Has anyone had any arcade cabinets shipped over here from sellers in the UK (via UKvac) since Brexit?

Did you take a hammering on VAT?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,996 ✭✭✭geotrig

Yeah and no, trying to find someone to deal with you without an eori no or clearing agent can be hard brexit really fucked moving cabs ,find a man with a van via Shipley or that ,who is doing a house move and it should be ok hidden in the back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 794 ✭✭✭80s Synth Pop

Customs clearance was 50. Palletised freight was 300.

    Then 23% vat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭unky chop chop
