    drafting 6

    1. CJ2k
    2. MJD
    3. Jordy Nelson
    4. Michael Vick
    5. Antonio Gates
    6. Lance Moore
    7. Santana Moss
    8. Andrew Luck
    9. Sidney Rice
    10. Jermaine Gresham
    11. James Starks
    12. Dexter McCluster
    13. Alex Henery
    14. Denver Broncos

Pretty happy with that. Amazed that gates was left that late, sure he's older, but hes still elite. I took Vick last year first round at 7, couldnt let him go at that stage.

WR core a little light, but the rest is solid. particularly at RB where I had a nightmare last year.

    Bring it on now!

lots of rb alright, but bar turner, you may get little out of the rest - your problem may lie in which ones to play and then suddenly the dude on the bench gets 25 points.

light on te and qb aswell.....although flacco does do a job generally.

Posting some of the teams that caught my eye from the draft today. Sadly my division rivals :D
    Blacque Power

    1. Chris Johnson RB - TEN PICK 6
    2. Maurice Jones-Drew RB - JAC PICK 27
    3. Jordy Nelson WR - GB PICK 38
    4. Michael Vick QB - PHI PICK 59
    5. Antonio Gates TE - SD PICK 70
    6. Lance Moore WR - NO PICK 91
    7. Andrew Luck QB - IND PICK 102
    8. Santana Moss WR - WAS PICK 123
    9. Sidney Rice WR - SEA PICK 134
    10. James Starks RB - GB PICK 155
    11. Jermaine Gresham TE - CIN PICK 166
    12. Dexter McCluster WR - KC PICK 187
    13. Alex Henery K - PHI PICK 198
    14. Denver Broncos DEF PICK 219

The first two RB picks scare me to be honest. Could very easily destroy the entire league if they recreate past form or could be a big let-down given CJ2K's form from last year and lack of prep from MJD. Vick will be great when he plays but quite likely to miss a few games. No telling what Luck will do but could be great. I like the Sidney Rice pick. If he can stay healthy he will do good stuff :)
    Manning to Manningham

    1. Julio Jones WR - ATL PICK 15
    2. Andre Johnson WR - HOU PICK 18
    3. Eli Manning QB - NYG PICK 47
    4. Marques Colston WR - NO PICK 50
    5. David Wilson RB - NYG PICK 79
    6. DeAngelo Williams RB - CAR PICK 82
    7. Jared Cook TE - TEN PICK 111
    8. Chicago Bears DEF PICK 114
    9. Mason Crosby K - GB PICK 143
    10. Toby Gerhart RB - MIN PICK 146
    11. Bernard Scott RB - CIN PICK 175
    12. Mark Sanchez QB - NYJ PICK 178
    13. Alshon Jeffery WR - CHI PICK 207
    14. Brian Quick WR - STL PICK 210

Good receivers, solid QB, a lot of potential with the RBs depending on injuries.
    Big Game Bottlers
    1. Matt Ryan QB - ATL PICK 10
    2. Wes Welker WR - NE PICK 23
    3. Steven Jackson RB - STL PICK 42
    4. Jeremy Maclin WR - PHI PICK 55
    5. Frank Gore RB - SF PICK 74
    6. Robert Meachem WR - SD PICK 87
    7. Brent Celek TE - PHI PICK 106
    8. Carson Palmer QB - OAK PICK 119
    9. Kevin Smith RB - DET PICK 138
    10. Kendall Wright WR - TEN PICK 151
    11. Kyle Rudolph TE - MIN PICK 170
    12. Seattle Seahawks DEF PICK 183
    13. Robbie Gould K - CHI PICK 202
    14. Mike Tolbert RB - CAR PICK 215

I don't like the RB picks at all to be honest, nor the PHI picks as I think they are dependent on Vick to have any kind of offence. That said Big Game Bottles will now likely destroy me when we face off :D
Last but not least, my own entry the Pillow Fighters

    1. Arian Foster RB - HOU PICK 2
    2. Jamaal Charles RB - KC PICK 31
    3. Brandon Lloyd WR - NEPICK 34
    4. Dwayne Bowe WR - KC PICK 63
    5. Robert Griffin III QB - WAS PICK 66
    6. Justin Blackmon WR - JAC PICK 95
    7. Brandon Pettigrew TE - DET PICK 98
    8. C.J. Spiller RB - BUF PICK 127
    9. Nate Washington WR - TEN PICK 130
    10. Ryan Williams RB - ARI PICK 159
    11. LeGarrette Blount RB - TB PICK 162
    12. Tim Tebow QB - NYJ PICK 191
    13. Billy Cundiff K - WAS PICK 194
    14. Jacksonville Jaguars DEF PICK 223

For the most part I tried to take the best player available to me at the time and didn't focus too heavily on position ordered drafting. I'm happy with the RBs I picked up and think there is good potential for scoring and there is trade value too. QB is an obvious weak point. I narrowly missed out on Peyton Manning and decided to take a chance on RGIII. I'm hoping his rushing yards will give him respectable numbers. I'm not sure how I feel about my WRs. I really think Lloyd could have quite a few spectacularly huge weeks but I worry that there might also be weeks when he does very little given how many options there are in that offence. I think Dwayne Bowe is solid. Justin Blackmon has potential but I don't think I can rely on him. Nate Washington I'm hopeful will surprise people but I'm not sure I actually expect it. Tebow could well have gone undrafted but I decided to take a punt on him getting some useful work at the start of the season before Sanchez gets benched and he acquires some real fantasy value. I'm willing to have him sit on my bench and see what happens. Good for a laugh anyway ;)

This was my first 16 team draft and it is such a different beast to any others I've done in the past. There were what I considered to be some outrageous picks early on and it definitely helped make it a lof of fun. I felt as though I did comparatively well later on in the draft but time will tell. I can't wait for it all to start now! Thanks to everyone who took part! :)

Last year I had a total mare at RB, so this year I made sure. I was very surprised to see MJD still there at pick 27. Sure he may not put up great numbers in week 1, maybe week 2, but he is a stud. Dude runs through walls and there is no one else on that team that will take many carries from him.

biggest surprise for me, was the amount of WR's that were taken as first picks and second picks.

I picked up gates in the fifth round and someone picked up hernandez I think in the second...madness in my mind....

My strategy was just to pick the best player, in whatever position, at whatever stage.

Happy at QB tbh, at TE i'll pick someone up off waiver after the first couple of weeks its worked in the past for me

they are both very decent teams, remember your bench dont play on the day. If you can somehow avoid injuries, both those teams should do fine.

There is a huge element of luck involved, either way.

Trading is a key element, look at the performance of other teams, see where they might be short and try and get some players that way.

Use the wire aswell. Being first on the waivers is a huge advantage in the first two or three weeks. There will be breakout players coming out of nowhere.....

So bide your time, keep involved and dont fret about the draft, its already done!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 830 ✭✭✭Prefab Sprouter

    I went 4th

    QB
    Philip Rivers
    Jay Cutler
    RB
    Ray Rice
    Adrian Peterson
    Roy Helu
    WRs
    Brandon LaFell
    Titus Young
    Eric Decker
    Mike Williams
    Damian Williams
    TE
    Greg Olsen
    K
    Sebastian Janokowski
    Def
    Bengals

Ok, well I'm pleased overall with my team. With a 16 team draft its very difficult to ensure that all positions are of strength. I'm well pleased with my QB situation and I couldnt believe that Rice fell to me. That said, Peterson is a risk and typical that I got sucked into drafting a "Shanarat" Running Back.

But playing these leagues over the years have taught that everyone who has won in the leagues I've played, does so through the waiver wire. That said, it will be very interesting to see the rosters of teams at the end of the season compared with the start.

forgot to adjust my teams roster before wednesdays game started..... so i had Felix Jones starting and he got a big fat ZERO. Nicks didnt fare much better on 3.80 at least Romo has got a good score. i need someone to not play or have a nightmare in the team i'm facing

    interesting week 1!

Chris Johnson flounders again, but came up big with lance moore (although, very very late show from him and brees).

I have Antonio Gates tonight versus his Darren mcFadden, I lead by half a point....

need alot of luck I think!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,317 ✭✭✭HigginsJ

Julio Jones and Andre Johnson, thank you :D

It'll take a near miracle for me to come back, especially as my sole RB is facing my Defence tonight!!!

if gates had made on one of those two catches in the endzone, it would have been the great escape.

all set for week 2. Wire very quiet. Might bring sidney rice off the bench for santana moss.

Chris Johnson is forecasted to get 3 points, where as demarcus murray is forecasted for 28. Who writes these things? not sure you would find many people willing to bet that CJ2k with get a combined 30 yards!!!!

Anyways, with 4 pick vick on my team, anything can happen

Fingers crossed Donabate Dragons and Pack It All In can hold on in their matchups. If Denver have a big game Manning might even help The Franchise turn it around against Big Game Bottlers. Probably not going to happen though ;)
