Run lap heads up and over part of one of the bridges from city to Beach also.

Lucked into last race of season.
Gave GF full dibs on hol plans.
Yoga Course in Miami, cost worked out same for 7 nights in Italy (our initial thoughts) as 12 in Miami. She gets to do Yoga Course with great teacher she really wants to. Grand let's do it.
So I google Miami triathlon October....
Oh look... the 70.3 is on that weekend.....

Main event this year for me Galway 70.3. Hopefully this will be my first full half ironman (not counting last year as swim was shortened!!). I am sooo looking forward to it. Really going to go out and give it everything and enjoy every minute of it. I have worked hard for this. Two years ago I could not swim, two years ago I did not own a bike, how things have changed.
Realistically I think my sub six hour goal (fingers crossed) is achievable. Have done alot more swimming and cycling this year than last. Granted not as much running done this year in comparison to last but recent race times are on a par with last year. Half marathon time this year is 1:42 so I will be happy to target a sub 1:50 on Sunday. The Acquathon in Galway in July was a mighty chance to have a go at the swim course so I know where I stand time wise with the swim. I honestly think I can actually have a crack at ‘racing’ the swim as oppose to just surviving it!! Don't get me wrong I am still pretty crap swim wise but getting there. Cycle wise I am pushing a good gear and have done a fair few tt over the summer. Thurs evening group cycles of 3 hrs will hopefully make the cycle Sunday seem like a breeze!!!
The SBR challenge has really helped keep my training consistent so a big thank you to all here and especially to shotgunmcos . My goal was to hit all ‘greens’ before Galway and now that’s done it’s just a question of getting on with the race. Best of luck to everyone taking part this weekend. Let’s hope for calm seas and a great day out.

5.40/5.45 probably more realistic

Keep your target and race how you feel on the day. I had a goal last year and I missed it by a fair bit due to the conditions & my condition. Much more confident this year (famous last words) but sticking the time in the back of the head and racing the race, not the time.

Only 11 mins quicker than the Humbert on paper but completely different race. 20mins quicker on the run, 5mins on the bike and 5 slower in the swim.

Just remembered your earlier post about being too optimistic about your time too!! Bloody hell thats some swing in confidence!

The bike with out a doubt.20 mins quicker than i thought. Run was about 7 mins than thought too

No doubt Vegas will be higher standard all round for sure.
Interesting though my AG winner in Vegas this year did Miami in 2011.
He finished 2 mins ahead of my 4:27, however it was non wetsuit and swim seems to be around 2mins faster this year - so assuming all else relatively equal then I'm 4 mins off his performance 12 months ago.
He clearly improved a lot on bike in particular prior to Vegas though so made very impressive improvements to win his AG in Vegas. And who knows Miami could have been a bad day for him etc etc.
On the flip side, he managed to beat Leanda Cave by 4 mins in Vegas, who completely hammered me in Miami by 20 mins so realistically I'm currently 20-25mins off being competitive in AG 70.3. Will see how much of that I can bridge for Vegas next year. A tough task by any stretch.

I'm still deciding my main goals for 2013 and know Vegas will be a different kettle of fish in the heat alone so who knows. I'll want to go well clearly but won't have all eggs in one basket as can't expect to be too competitive at first attempt but also heat a relative unknown (Abu Dhabi and Miami an indicator but not the same I'm sure).

Have you goals laid down for next season yet?
