    Plan on doing one too but not sure of location so will update when i decide, need to get cycling though, have my running and swimming in half decent nick.

    I'm considering doing Galway this year but I want to see when it is. If it's same time as last year I might not bother and look somewhere warmer instead.

    There's nothing yet about it on the ironman site so perhaps it was a one off.

    Its almost deffo on - they mentioned on their facebook account they are in negotiations with Ironman, the date will be announced soon, its most likely to be the weekend of September 2nd

    Searching for one on in May. Limited options in Ireland. Won't have the dosh to hit the UK or sunnier shores. Looks like a cold dip in Mid May for my 2nd HIM. Looking at the winners time for this year (4:38) and the slow bike times suggests a sub 5 is even ambitious. I know the area up by Oldcastle too and its well hilly with poor enough road surfaces.

    I put my 4:49 down based on improving on my Kenmare time this year, but looking at last years results up there would seem to be little chance of hitting that. Road surface in the general area is very hit and miss, with some decent sections and some terrible parts. The rolling hills are where I'm at home!!

    You did well at Kenmare so this should suit you then. Are you gearing up for an IM?

    I only remember one bad section of road on the course, it was a lot better than I was expecting tbh. If the weather holds up its going to be a great race, was very well organized with great support from the marshals.

    There weren't too many hills on the bike but the surface was poor in parts. The crap weather on the day had a part to play in the slow bikes - wet windy and wet. The run course is hilly enough IIRC. Really well organised race.

    Thanks, I was delighted with Kenmare alright. Ironman attempt is two years away at least. Getting the HIM out of the way early next year to spend the summer going fast before gearing up for a marathon debut in Dublin next year. Want to have a couple of Marathons run before attempting to climb that tree.

    Remembering the clubmates talking about the Tri an Mhi race from last year and the weather on the bike was horrific, from glorious sunshine to hailstones, and pretty much everything in-between. Probably a factor in the bike splits. Proper midlands weather!!

    Humbert Challenge- great race did it this year in my first season in triathlon, loved every minute of it, and its on my doorstep; the bike route is my long sunday cycle most weekends.
