    That's my club race. I just want to do a second race and Galway also suits time wise.
    Humbert is a great race and great value like the other smaller events.

    so long as galway is Ironman branded it'lll never go down. Their price point for all HIM's is seems to be around 220-250 or so

    If you want the razzmataz of an Ironman branded race, that is your choice.

    Can't go along with that, i use apple in my business for specific reasons and not for their brand name. Just because its more than double the price doesn't make it twice as good.............use a service or product for a reason and if you feel its value for money, i personally don't see the Ironman brand as value for money.

    I totally agree with that, I dont see Apple or Nike as value for money,
    but people want it, they get what they want.
    Nobody forces them to buy it.
    Its a free market. Offer and demand.

    Chances are high that without Ironman there would be no Athy...as triathlon would be way smaller ( like them or not that's a fact especially in the Usa, a bit less in Europe )

    i think you'll find athy and almost every other event has been increasing/selling out long before ironman came to ireland:)
    all ironman has done has given another option, or opened it up to the brand name hunters,
    by the way i have nothing against i.m. but when racing regularly its hard to justify the cost

    If you look at the history of triathlon you will see that Ironman is the biggest promoter of triathlon since 1978 for the amateur triathlon ( of course for profit making)

    If you ask the punter on the street that has never done triathlon , if they know what Itu is they wont have a clue. Ironman most people know. Ironman brought triathlon to the masses over the last 30 years. Julie Moss made triathlon iconic and that was Ironman Hawaii...

    That's very true. Most people actually use the IM term to cover triathlons in general. Ironman is the generic brand really, like Hoover and Bic.

    Now that you know you beat your predicted time in August comfortably, are you going to set a different time for when you do the race again in a couple months time?? :D

    Also - where about's on your bike did you fit that flux capacitor?
    Hidden from the air under the saddle or did you find a better location? :P

    ha ha, did you not know de-lorean made t.t. bikes?
    a bit of toing & throwing with races this year, forgot to update table:o
    supposed to do tri an mhi but couldnt make it,
    decided on groomsport, ( may still do)
    ended up at tri limits in dungannon,
    and yes, new target of 5:30 :D

    Its back on :) After the disaster that was Tri an Mhi, time to restore pride before Galway. I hear its a tough course but hoping to take the guts of an hour off Tri an Mhi. Cant wait :cool:

    Lucked into last race of season.
    Gave GF full dibs on hol plans.
    Yoga Course in Miami, cost worked out same for 7 nights in Italy (our initial thoughts) as 12 in Miami. She gets to do Yoga Course with great teacher she really wants to. Grand let's do it.
    So I google Miami triathlon October....
    Oh look... the 70.3 is on that weekend.....

    Yep it's a pancake flat bike on sweet roads from what I gather.
    Non wetsuit but relatively calm assuming no storm swim, and run ok but over a bridge or so and exposed to wind.

    Either way, last race of season, 3rd 70.3 and I'll not be holding anything back whatsoever so may as well go for it.

    Time is based on Vegas slot, just like Galway.
