dressmaking or preferably tailoring courses. I'm assuming that beginner's level is likely to be orientated more toward dressmaking though. & I'm wanting to learn how to make clothing for myself a man.

They delivered my friend's washing machine to Spiddal with no problems. I would of thought that Connors deliver as well - I know they deliver TV's & set them up.

I've asked around for this myself before, all sewing classes to my knowledge are geared towards dress-making or quilting. Pippa Blue in the Cathedral Buildings off Abbeygate St. run courses of some kind. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss resources for men's tailoring, fabrics and trimmers merchants etc.

You would need a tailoring course & my guess would be that they are rare. Your best bet might be to find the nearest college that offers a fashion design course & ask them.

had thought a dressmaking course would at least give you applicable basics. I assume the principles would be the same. That making simple shirts would have similar techniques as dresses?
& trousers a bit more advanced but still an area that would overlap with a dressmaking course. Just directions on how to size properly, sew a seam, cut from a pattern or preferably design a pattern to cut from. Or is that all advanced enough to be a fashion course anyway?

A fashion course remember will not cover many of the most important aspects of tailoring/dressmaking such as sewing, pattern manipulation, drafting, finishing, pressing, cloth etc. I would advise you to be quite wary of heading into a fashion course assuming they will teach you proper tailoring and sewing skills. I advise you to look at and join the cutterandtailor.com/forum it has a wealth of detail for the beginner and professional before you start investigating courses etc.

right I thought it would be trying to prepare the student for the workplace but maybe it's "understood" that for a student to get on a course they've already advanced beyond that stage? Or Otherwise be preparing fr a specialised area so bypass the basics. Was thinking more about a dressmaking course because it wouldn't be as advanced.
Have just also been wondering if the basics might be thought of as covered in junior school as home economics which would possibly affect the expectation of taking a dressmaking course.
I've just registered with that cutterandtailor.com thing and am looking through it.

Still I think I'd be interested in knowing what dressmaking courses were around.

I would contact this guy as he is a bespoke tailor in Galway & ask for some advice. I think that dressmaking may concentrate more on sewing up existing patterns. The reason I suggested contacting a fashion college wasn't to join one of their courses but to ask their advice. They may have technicians who assist on the courses & they are often retired tailors, dressmakers etc.

Dunnes have tins of refried beans for €3 or so. Aldi occasionally get them in during their mexican weeks for €2. I've never found chipotle peppers, but I did get some chipotle hot sauce in TK Maxx.

Does anyone know where I can buy humane mouse traps in town?
Putting down the usual lethal variety isn't an option in this case

Hello all. I am looking to buy a painting for my wife's birthday - preferably a Galway painting. I'm thinking something possibly cheesy like sunset down by the Cladagh with swans kind of thing. Where would be the best places to look for one? Thanks.

There's some nice paintings inside the door of Anton's cafe on Fr. Griffin Road of William St and Quay Street. No idea as to price or the artists name but they caught my eye there last weekend.

    Hi guys,

Im looking for a place that might supply checkered alluminium for a man hole cover. Basically looking for a sheet 43" square to cover a hole at the side of my house where the water pump is.
