I have some free time soon, so if anyone is looking for consoles modded etc now's the time to ask me :)

    No Amiga's though (cap kits), they're just a time-hole

Can you do a few cap kits for my Amiga:pac::pac:

Only kidding, showed off my skillzzz (see what I did there) earlier and repaired my 2 broken DS Lites using only one replacement shell, I was able to salvage enough parts from one to make a hideous abortion of another.

They turned out great considering:D Wasn't that hard to do and I didn't even break any ribbon cables!

I'm not quite up to date on terminology.... What is a cap kit? :o

    Master of the Universe

Capacitor replacement. They have a horrible tendency to fail, especially on Amiga a1200s and CD32s.

    Ctrl Alt Del

Lol this problem was a little bit tough for that trick.

Finally made a partition after hours of pain.

Even though i had 300gb free i could not shrink the volume as some files were immoveable:mad:

Tried Defrag, moving the page file and many other things including ftsuil in cmd.

    Nothing worked

But now thanks to Partition Magic i am typing this on my dual-boot system from the Windows 8 os

Now I have a copy of Skyward Sword I'm faced with this first world problem:

I have skyward sword and after spending a while getting it running from my hard disk I decided not to play it at all until I finish Dark Souls. I'm a bit burnt out on DS since I've played it so much so taking a break with Halo ODST.

ODST has some of the worst videogame dialogue ever written. It also looks really rough for a current gen game. AI is surprisingly shoddy as well, either that or it's aged badly. Great soundtrack though, Marty O'Donnell is capable of some great stuff (and some awful stuff like Halo 2's awful guitar lead soundtrack) but this is certainly his best. It's doing it's job for me as a dumb shooter though and giving me a break from DS.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,695 ✭✭✭DinoRex

I think even Duke Nukem Forever is a more rounded game than ODST.

    Reach is good though.

If I got a time machine the first thing I'd do would be to travel back to 1994 and show my young self super smash bros brawl with mario and sonic fighting in it.

Halo ODST's story has just taken a turn for the absolutely retarded. I'm now escorting something that looks like my infected armpit. I'm in knots laughing at how bad it's turned so quickly.

So far the game has been the definition of mediocre, so at least this bizarre turn of events makes me interested in seeing ho much of a trainwreck they can create :)

retr0 you must be the only person I know who actively tortures themselves so they can give out about it online :P

You'd would miss it if I didn't. I honestly didn't think this game would be so stupid either and the great reviews it got as well. It's almost killzone 2 levels of bland.

I had a dream last night I found SNES cd-rom unit in an attic somewhere :)

It looked just like a 3DO but with SNES colours and branding

    I think I need a few days off :o

Surely because there was only one of them, you'd consider that a nightmare?

It came free with my xbox.
I totally agree, it gave me a very bad impression of halo games:P
    Totally sucked

Does anybody here work a gamestop?:P
What's the trade-in value on a 3ds atm, I've completely lost any desire to use the 3d feature- it hurts..:(

Halo Reach just from the first mission seems like a much improved game. Really like the super agile elites as well. Massive graphical overhaul as well.

Handy little link if you fancy some NES 8bit fun and don't have an emulator or real console to hand.

    *link deleted*

I've used it when stuck in server rooms and places like that.
Helps to while away a good bit of time.

    Edit:
    Oops, sorry about the link.
For some reason I forgot which forum I was on

Haze, an ex mamedev, has seemingly gone a different route & done his own thing with Mame core. I havn't read into it much yet, but seemingly he's released a version of Mame which is built largely on Mess...possibly a hybrid of the two or something.

The result is a damned comprehensive emulator or all systems, arcade & console, in one single binary

Could be useful to those of us with cabs etc - http://mamedev.emulab.it/haze/

Yeah, It's called "Ultimate MAME". I have it here and its a bit buggy but that could just be the recompiled version of it I have.

Does anyone know of any decent places to hunt for retro games in London? I'm heading over there for a weekend soon and would like to see if there are any places like the Rage that anyone knows of.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,861 ✭✭✭Steve X2

They incorporated the laser disc games into the chd roms this version so you don't need to get the roms, chds and laser disc files, just the roms and chd's.

Are you saying laser disc is disabled in Ultimate MAME?

Not really retro but the cex shops still stock PS2, Xbox and GC games.
