I went to reids, then a place on dawson street (they had no magazines) then a place in stephens green. The nearest Easons to me is on OConnell street, i might take a wander down there tomorrow.
I got it there last week. Give them a call before you walk all the way over, nothing worse then a wasted lunch-break.

Can't get my c**ting 32X to work. No wonder the system died a death. I'll open it tomorrow & do the ribbon fix

Retro gaming reminds me of classic car maintenance sometimes. You can't plug in a cart & expect the system to work no sir'ee. Tlc is often needed

Ribbon fix done, 32X restored to full health. Yus! I'm outta here, I've demons to fight on Phobos

In slow motion, with no enemy animation frames except 2 frames from the front, horrible borders, half the levels missing and a soundtrack that sounds like someone farting in your face :P

Mega cd 1 or 2? Any difference. Or multi mega?

Mega CD 1 looks far better.

But Mega CD 2 has a manual lid so it wont suffer motor damage like the Mega CD 1.

Multi Mega are excellent but is more of a collector piece.

Theres a Mega-CD 1 up on adverts, posted today, i spotted it earlier, i grabbed a Megadrive-Master system converter off the lad selling it today too.

Just came across that myself. Really overpriced at €100. But I guess with how adverts works, you need to put the asking as high as possible!

Through a bizarre twist of fate, which o1s1n will find amusing no doubt, it turns out that for some reason the Megadrive 1 I have set up in my games room isn't 60Hz modded  How the fugg?

I think I sold an MD1 a while ago, that one must have been modded. Ah well, off to Radionics tomorrow

Yeah you just got in ahead of me.

I was thinking it was pricey at €100 the mega cd.

What are the main games for it? That final fight any good?

I don't think it's really overpriced, a little maybe, I think a working MCD1 should command about €80 or so. Buying in Ireland means less/no postage though which is the good thing.

Your spot on re which model to use.

MCD1 - Looks the dogs, fragile though & becoming rare in working state.
MCD2 - The work horse, less complicated, cheaper & more common
    CDX - Collectible

I'd give up the drink for lent for a MCD1. The MCD2 is like a parasite leeching off the side of the Megadrive and equally as unattractive too.

    HAHAHAHA!

I'm experiencing the exact same fate. Multiple modded Megadrives sitting in my grandparents attic (even that feckin super modded yolk with enough switches to make baby jesus weep) - I finally have an Everdrive and an arcade stick worthy of shmups and what do I have sitting under my TV? A stock PAL Megadrive 2 :(:(:(

I think if you're willing to keep your eye on ebay for a bargain, you should be able to get a Mega CD 1 between £30 and £40. Which is about €50. Postage would be another €20.

I guess €70-€80 to buy one in Ireland would be about right. Still, seems expensive to me..I'm too used to seeing them cheaper on ebay.

Yep it was the one in the box i got off you about a year or so ago from adverts.

Was that a year ago? Jeziz

Actually when I couldn't get the 32X working, I tried the Sonic cart in my Nomad. Played Starlight Zone or something. Got the 32X working today, the difference in 50Hz is absolutely sickening. The whole game feels muddy/sticky, after playing it @ 60Hz & then moving to 50Hz. I'll remedy that asap

Also, I tested the MD1 via RF yesterday to eliminate the MD itself. Full RGB scart today via the 32X...the difference is a sight to behold, more so on a crt.

50hz through RF, how did we do it for so many years? seriously?!

A couple of switches and a decent cable - it's almost like a jump in a console generation.

Ignorance man, pure ignorance. I'd have slagged the head off my mates if they advocated spending money on video cables & not games. Cables? Nerds!

Similarly, I always remember freaking at the idea of modding a console! Didn't get into that game for years.

There was a lad in Bray who ran a games swapping shop out of the back of a horse riding shop. (felt like you were going into the back to do some dodgy deals)

One day he explained to me if you cut the little tabs off your Megadrive cart slot, you could play loads of Japanese games.

Myself and my mam left the shop horrified that anyone would do such a thing and risk breaking their console.

    The naiveity :D

I remember my first RGB experience. I was in GAME when it was on Henry street and had a tenner burning a hole in my pocket. I saw the game brand RGB cables selling for a tenner so decided to pick one up because some lunatic on these boards was talking about how it would suddenly make my games look amazing but sure it was the right price. So off I go home to hook up my Gamecube with RGB.

My god did I have my eyes opened. It was like jumping to another generation of consoles. I remember playing F-Zero GX and thinking to myself 'my god I can actually read all the text!'. I was straight back to GAME the next day to get PS2 and Xbox cables.

    RGB for life!

Anyone else having trouble with paying on eBay last two days? I get getting an error with payment is processing. Funds are there in my card so I dunno.

Hah, no way! It was called 'Riders' (being a horse shop and all). The guy who owned it also drove around in his car (kind of like an ice cream van for videogames!). If you rented a game on the Friday you didn't have to give it back till monday. Was great.

They had a system where games had different coloured paper dots stuck on the boxes. You could only trade your game for another game with the same colour. Plus £5 of course.

Not a bad system, I guess they sorted the coloured dot system by release date.
