When I got the new update I didn't add any of the BBC or ITV HD channels that we couldn't previously access. I just done the forced update straight away!

There must have been a few bugs with the latest software ......

According to Sky+ EPG Info there is a new version of R10 being sent out (R010.070.58.13P), I assume this just contains bug fixes.

    UPDATE:
This update replaces the previous public firmware version R010.070.58.06P mid rollout and contains several additional, currently unspecified bug fixes.
Firmware rollout commenced Tuesday 23rd September 2014.

Got the R010.070.58.13P update and did the 'forced' software update as the blue button card trick no longer worked. The card trick works again when I went back to the previous version. I realise it won't be for long though. Using an ITV Central card by the way!

I did the forced update back to R009.066.77. 08P but the card trick still wont work.

I wonder is it specific cards or did you add the HD channels into the add channels tab?

I tried it again with my UTV card but no joy. I didn't bother adding any of the newly available HD channels to other channels as I can't view them without a HD sub.

You dont need a HD sub to view the likes of BBC 3 and 4 which are now available in HD. There may be others possibly that Im not aware of.

To be honest, HDMI-CEC compatibility is a welcome addition. So long card trick :(

    Whats HDMI-CEC?

Basically allows control of the TV via the HDMI connection, similar to how "Scart Control" worked in older Sky boxes.

If my TV and Sky box are both in Standby, i now just press the Sky button and it turns on the TV and Sky box and switches automatically to the correct HDMI input.

LIkewise if playing my PS3 and want to switch to Sky, I just turn on the Sky box with the remote and it switches the input.

No more going to "Source, move down to HDMI-3, press OK, then switch on Sky box".

It worked on my Samsung tv until I rolled the update back to the earlier version. It never worked on the other box with a Toshiba tv. Would much prefer to have the card trick back....

It's on your TV settings, it's enabled by default on the latest software, for more info see here.

At least we can get Channel 5 HD, ITV 2,3 and 4 in HD now as well with the new firmware. An extra bonus I guess.

Yes you can tune them in but you need a UK sub to watch them as they are all subscription channels.

The ITV HD channels have always been available on an Irish card.

Yes, I've been watching ITV Encore on a sky box with an Irish HD sub since it started in June.

I did a forced update on one of my boxes to a 009 epg and the card trick wouldn't work. I tried the forced update on the same box again this morning and the trick is working again....

Is there some hope for the card trick?

Only a stop-gap I fear because the 009 epg will be taken off the forced update stream soon. Flushed with my success on the first box I went ahead and Force updated my second box and no way will it work.... UTV epg loads perfectly but as soon as I swop cards the Irish epg comes back.... arrghh most frustrating...
