I have an old blue card which was replaced by the new white one but the blue card lets me record all the free channels which is great.

It's it a old irish card? Can you record from other channels

It is not possible to record any "other channels" no matter what card is used.

It is possible with the card I have
I have not revived the latest update so adding "other channels" to fav works via blue button

There is no way to record the Other Channels.

What you are doing is bastardising an EPG (not recording from Other Channels)

If you read my post correctly I said I record the channels saved to other channels via the blue button so there is way to record other channels

I read your post as correct as I could.

You are not recording from Other Channels - you are placing the Other Channels onto a bastardised EPG and are recording from that EPG - it is not possible to record from other channels.

Try it then - the Record button simply doesn't work in the Other Channels menu.

It is only possible to record channels that are on the EPG on a Skybox; it's actually a feature.

If they allowed recording via Other Channels then there would be little incentive for many channels to pay for an EPG slot ;)

It is possible for me to record the channels I have saved to other channels via the blue button I did not once say I recorded them in that menu I said via blue button I can record pause rewind the channels I have added to the other channels

You have repeatedly said you can record the other channels.

I've repeatedly advised you cannot do so; you are recording via a bastardised EPG.

Your UK card placed the channels onto the EPG allowing you to save them onto the blue button and, utilising a software glitch, those channels remain on the EPG when you load your Irish card.

Other Channels are simply channels saved into that section, they are neither dependent on the card you use in your receiver nor are they dependent on encryption.

In other words, you can save any channel in there - including all the encrypted channels.

Using your logic what you are stating is that if you place Sky Sports 1 into Other Channels and then record using the EPG at 402 that you are recording an "Other Channel".

As you have now admitted you are not recording Other Channels - it is simply not possible to do so.

What you are doing is recording channels that are available on a bastardised EPG but are also in Other Channels.

You need to get out more often.... All posters here know how the card trick or as you so eloquently put it " bastardised epg" works.

I think the best option is the one I took which was to buy a Manhattan Freesat 320GB Recorder box and connect two new cables from my dish, it did mean an initial outlay of €239 for the receiver/recorder & €80 for the cable installation, but that means I have in effect the same as the full card trick & I can choose whatever region I want by simply changing the postcode, I no longer have to worry about temporary loss due to a power failure or update, It also means I can use my sky boxes for normal irish epg recordings,

I will be forever thankful to david1982 for giving us the heads up that this was about to occur.

What are steps to rollback firmware? Tried looking but couldn't find them

Don't bother rolling back the software as it won't work. I rolled back one of my boxes but still no card trick. If you want to try it this is the procedure. Unplug the box, while holding down the backup button on the box plug the box back in. Keep holding down the backup button until the screen turns black and all the lights on the front are lighting together. Release the backup button and the rollback will complete in 10-15 mins. A waste of time in my case.

Any joy with the card trick with that version? If anyone could find a way to install the legacy versions......now that would be brilliant.

Maybe the card trick stopped as utv will be coming to ireland soon and they updated software for them and that stopped card trick?
    Just a guess

Got the R010.070.58.13P update and did the 'forced' software update as the blue button card trick no longer worked. The card trick works again when I went back to the previous version. I realise it won't be for long though. Using an ITV Central card by the way!
