He had a torrid last game and apparently couldn retain the plays.

Biggest name in the latest round of cuts ir Alex Green

Surprised by the Alex Green cut but he doesn't really add anything that we don't already have in our RB's. Pity he got injured at such a critical time in his career coming out of college.

We've signed our backup QB - Seneca Wallace. He'll have a fair idea of the playbook of the 49ers for the weekend if nothing else! To be fair, he's a competent enough backup and certainly better than having BJ Coleman come in.

Wallace is a good QB, maybe even an above average backup

    Good signing

Only got around to watching the game there earlier on Gamepass due to a hectic enough weekend.

    Few observations on it -

Rodgers played really well and with Nelson back fit, Finley holding onto passes (except that INT that was just unlucky), Cobb performing well and Lacy getting going - we're going to be a very hard team to stop offensively if Lacy continues his progression.

Once again our defence was shown up. The tackler list was like Matthews, Matthews, Matthews, Jones, Matthews/Jones etc. And the only one really getting to Kaepernick was Matthews. Worse than that is the fact our old tackling issues in the secondary resurfaced again. I counted 3 or 4 times at least when SF receivers got away from our defensive backs when they should have had them easily - including McMillan missing Boldin for the TD. Actually the most annoying play of the lot was when Matthews sacked Kaepernick inside the 10 to make it 2nd and 18. They make 11 yards on the 2nd down and another 10 or so on the 3rd down from players being wide open. They go down and get a TD from that drive IIRC. They also had so much space across the middle. Hard to know if it's Capers calling or just the defensive play that's at fault here? Burnett and Casey Hayward are needed back.

Wouldn't be too disheartened in that SF are about the best side in the conference and we were minutes away from a win. But them are the margins.

We haven't had back to back losses in a regular season since October 2010. Hopefully this trend continues. :D

Only got to see a part of the Redskins and Eagles online this morning but it looked like a lot of mistakes by the Redskins cost them early on.

Yea the skins were totally asleep for the entire first half i think the offense only got 1 first down in the first half:D vast improvement 2nd half and showed signs of last year ill be shocked if we beat you boys but you just never know;)

great effort by the team at the weekend. really enjoyable game. i think lacy really improved as the game wore on and could be the feature back we are in dire need off. Offence was amazing against a top class D.
Our D was brilliant against the run and matthews had a monster game considering we were up against the no. 1 o-line in football. our secondary was poor but hopefully when burnett and heyward return, it will stiffen up. It was high class football and we really produced. i think its going to be a good year

Can I just say how great it was to watch a game where AR didn spend the majority of it running out of the pocket to save his life?? there was a point where he just stood in the pocket and a tidal wave wouldn of got through on the play

Good to hear Rodgers seems to have better protection in place. Last year was shocking, even I was stressed watching some of the pressure he was taking in games. The man's a national treasure and it's only proper order he gets the protection he deserves.

    We miss you Mr. Woodson.

Offense was excellent today. Everybody got in on it. Very impressive from Starks.

Defense was good, especially stopping the run.

    Go Pack!

Don't be fooled by the D stats tonight, it was mainly junk yardage when it didn't matter.

    Great display

Bit of a contrast from last week I thought. Offense was poor and one of Rodgers worst games in a long time, too slow on the pass at times.

    M.D Jennings had a stormer.

I think the amount of injuries really took the tole yesterday.

Giving them a pass on this.

    Retribution is swift:eek:

Jeremy Ross is shown the door for his second major attack of the dropsies.

Looks like Randall will be moving back to the returning job, though after Franklin's showing he might get some action there too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,158 ✭✭✭Arawn

rightly so tbh. He'll be stashed on the practice squad if he clears waivers

    Would agree with that.

Only got around to watching the game today. Losing 2 RB's with another out before the game with a concussion was never going to be easy. Really impressed with Franklin though, looked much more like the player he was in the some of the college tape I watched when we drafted him and not the player who was struggling all camp.

Rodgers didn't have his greatest game in the world but that's a tough Cincinatti defence to go up against. Have to stop fumbling the ball and making big errors like the one Ross made. Those kind of things are the difference between 4 points winners or 4 points losers. They almost made as many mistakes as us, but ours were more costly.

We'll bounce back after the bye week.

Another week another big injury for the packers. Clay Matthews to miss at least a month with a broken thumb.

  • Registered Users Posts: 423 ✭✭seiphil

Huge loss. At least Perry seems to be getting a few sacks on the board.

starting to come out that Matthews thumb might keep him out till week 11-12

Seen online that McCarthy dismissed taking back Matt Flynn.

Would it be so bad doing so?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,158 ✭✭✭Arawn

a qb who lost 2 starting jobs gift wrapped for him and gets injuries from throwing the ball.....

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,579 ✭✭✭skeleton_boy

Cobb's injury though to be more sever than Jones, but neither though to be season ending. More will be known tomorrow after MRI.

  • Registered Users Posts: 526 ✭✭✭WakeyTyke

Hugely encouraging performance from so many areas.

The D-line is outstanding, particularly against the run but allowing the LB's to attack the QB.

The O-line are getting better every game and complimenting the running game. Crosby has is mojo back and Finley looks like he could shoulder the extra work to cover the (hopefully temporary) loss of Jones and Cobb.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,369 ✭✭✭UnitedIrishman

Great win last night especially in light of all the injuries. Going to have to try find highlights of it later somewhere, missed a large chunk of it due to work.

How bad are the injuries thought to be?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,158 ✭✭✭Arawn

James didn't look too bad as he came back to the side lines, Cobbs look worse, helmet straight to the knee and needed crutches

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,369 ✭✭✭UnitedIrishman

    ****.

Cobb out for 6-8 weeks. Fractured fibula.

Argh. We don't really have another guy in that position he plays coming out of the backfield or in the slot.

Be a lot more worried about the distinct lack of wrs we have left.

It leaves us with Jordy healthy and sir drops alot way far behind.

True. Especially if Jones is out for any length of time also.

Didn't realise the Browns signed Charles Johnson from our practice squad too although it's doubtful if he'd have made any impact anyways.

Jeremy Ross come back, all is forgiven!!!
