How often is this required now a days - only really for the RPSI - so not a huge problem. And the chances are the savings are much greater than this inconvenience.

    What savings?

it was perfectly fine and wouldn't of cost IE anything if it was kept, yet they could of simplified but not necessary. Running a loco around 70 miles (round trip) for RPSI specials isn't free. Funny thing is they have decided to keep another running line to the side of platforms and that was last used when beer was being transported! They even upgraded all the crossovers in the station a few months ago and the majority are only used for RPSI movements bar the odd maintenance train.

You have now also lost the ability to allow 7 coach operations on the route to which could of being allowed with minimal work if they didn't build a platform across the line and block the space. Now it isn't and most likely will never be possible without major cost.

I would be more concerned why the disused portion of Kilkenny station, bearing in mind that the city is a major tourist destination, is a complete eyesore... the overall roof appears as if it's about to collapse. Was taken aback on how bad it looked coming in from the Castlecomer road one day.

    Evening folks,

A vegetation clearance programme has recently taken place on the Foynes Branch. This is to allow the ongoing study funded by Shannon Foynes Port Company to be completed to help develop the case for reopening the railway line to freight traffic. To see the progress so far, I took a trip between Limerick and Foynes on a very sunny Saturday 18th April.

I spotted 206 on Wednesday morning in Connolly along with 207. Why is it on trail to Belfast since it's been in traffic on freight runs since it's overhaul.

It has had further work carried out, the No. 1 cab has been fitted with a MMI (Man Machine Interface) screen (not sure if the No. 2 cab is fitted). A trial was carried out for signal sighting purposes I believe.
