Sad and all that it is Eiretrains, you where lucky to manage a photo of a very little known story that quitely happened on Thursday 6th March, how it managed to stay below the press radar, I'II never know, them silly journalist in the press sometimes never see a story, that can sometimes break into a scandal, the export of the Holyyard Gantry Crane that was bought by EU money in 1995, some lucky buyer in Rotterdam in the Netherlands got a bargain, no it wasn't bought by a scrapper, but for reuse in the Port, I wonder was the handbook thrown in for free, they'll need it, to put it back together again.
    Regards

From the height and angle it appears that the photo was taken from Busaras. It was built between 1947 and 1953; again that may narrow it down by a year or so.

I would have thought that perfectly good, modern rolling stock being scrapped would be reason enough not to give CIE further funds.

carriges would be very complicated machines, the numbers are probably there to make sure nothing is missed and that the train can proceed as quickly as possible.

i suspect something else is the reason for that and not the amount of people inspecting a train

ticking a box on a form does not make you of a religion.

Carrying the seeds of their own destruction
I wouldn't call it that. Are the countries that have built successful high-speed rail short on automobiles? Rather, they are among the world's top car producers.

Not quite sure where this should go as there isn't a specific video thread.

Anyway, it's a short video of C231 being delivered, unloaded and unwrapped at Downpatrick & County Down Railway.

It is said branch, Fred. Upon abandonment, the stub and a short section of train was retained to allow cement and asbestos trains to access to what is now the Tegral plant via a spur on the Laois side of the bridge. It hasn't seen any traffic since 2005 but it's rail link remains active.

So that's why I had the bejaysus scared out of me. Standing on the platform in Castleknock, hear a screeching, turn around and there's a steam engine barrelling down the tracks.
