The interesting thing about this thread is just how inconsistent the modern atheist is. One minute religion is a form of child abuse...
The only thing consistent about atheists here is their lack of belief in deities - which is exactly how it should be.

Personally I believe the term "child abuse" should be reserved for teaching extremest views or the worst kind of fundamentalism to a kid. Not something I think applies to this particular situation.

    What are "extremist views"?

"Extreme" is a relative term - like "liberal". An opinon about Protestants which might be considered "extreme" in Dublin might be considered very mild in Ardoyne.

Views which promote hate for anyone that is not exactly like you. That kind of stuff. Geography doesn't justify your bigotry.

Spare me your sermons, please. Geography might not justify it, but one's experiences at the hands of those others are a different matter. No doubt, you find it easy to forget and forgive what has been done to others, to be patient with their grievances and to gamble courageously with their vital interests.

Always gives me a warm feeling inside to see a religious person mock the idea of forgiveness.

Forgive what has been done to yourself. Leave others to decide how they feel about their oppressors. Thank you.

The interpretation of most words ares subjective. If we were to question them all we'd be here till the Big Crunch.

I would deem it to be child abuse - using my interpretation of the term - to teach views I believe fall under my interpretation of the term extreme.

    Bit of a mouthful, no?

Do I detect a tendency on your part to confuse yourself with God? Is that an occupational hazaard of being a Moderator?

Do I detect you need to look up the word subjective in a dictionary and re-read what I wrote?

How would you feel if you hired a nanny, and that nanny happened to be a jesus lover, and said jesus lover brought out the book while you were at work? (keep in mind I do agree with everything you said, just was incredibly inappropriate)

I think given the context of working in a theocratic country such as Israel, the outcome was fairly obvious.

If you want to work in a theocratic, unfree country, you have to take the consequences.

it would of been better to explsain to the child that there are a lot of different religions some people are catholic, some jewish, some muslims but nobody is wrong its ok to say what you believe in but not ok to ridicule her religious teachings and beliefs

In any country, you will have to take the consequences for refusing to follow your employer's policies. If you do not like living in a theocratic country, I suggest that you emigrate to North Korea.

You're aware that Kim Il Sung, the founder of the DPRK, was raised a fundamentalist christian? And that in my own -- first hand -- experience of the DPRK, it's the most hideously religious state I've ever visited (and I've been to Saudi...)
