seeing as it was the first time in 6 months i had had a chance to give the car any detailing love, naturally it had to rain the very next day to **** my **** up. tbh the beads were not all that i had hoped for. i am putting it down to the rain being light and the car being dusty :pac:

Today I did something to my um....generator :o Stripped it completely, changed numerous gaskets and seals and gave it a clean. Picking up a new bearing, plug and oil tomorrow.

On topic, changed the gearbox, diff oil and the wiper blades in my oul banger van too. Also unclogged some black shíte that made its way into the windscreen washer hoses that has been there for weeks. Cleaned out the bottle too. I'll never have the confidence to post a pic of her because she's horrendous looking. Runs like the day she came off the factory floor though :o

As so many others have, I converted my interior lights from stock(dark with a hint of yellow) to LED(white with a hint of stadium floodlight):

Also did the license plate(makes the car look much newer):

Also decided to put some LEDs in place of the standard parking bulbs as they were pretty low visibility, have to say I really like the new appearance and can now just have the parking lights on as DRLs rather than having my headlights on all the time:

EDIT: I must apologise for the quality of the pics, they looked better on my phone!

Booked in with Mick in Germaniks yesterday for a little bit of coding work, and to fit upgraded under-seat subwoofers.

    4-1_zps697bcaac.jpg

    5-1_zps4c6460df.jpg

Factory subwoofers are located under each front seat. Whilst they're okay, they start breaking down pretty quickly with any sort of bass.

    6-1_zpse3ba6aa2.jpg

It's straightforward enough to access them, just unbolt the seat and tilt it back. Remove the cover and you can easily remove the enclosure with the factory sub.

    ...new...

...and in the middle of refitting the enclosures. Once they're installed with the covers replaced, it's a completely stock look (not that you can see them under the seats anyway). Mick recommended I go with the new Gladen HG-201BMW-3, which have the same impedance as stock, but with a lot more power (think it's around 200Ws?). They're also a straight swap, so no need to modify the enclosures like you would have to do with other brands of subwoofer. I don't really listen to music that loud anyways, but these provide a really nice improvement over stock. Mick was an absolute gent to deal with too, and a real perfectionist. Would highly recommend him to anyone.

What stereo do you have Paddy? Is it the Professional by any chance?

    Thanks Paddy.
They are actually 150W peak each. Which was more than plenty to set off a few alarms when you left :D

Yup, just the standard professional setup :)

Any idea if the E92 also has these subs?

They all have subs under the front seats, even the basic tweeter-less system.

My car refused to start yesterday, could hear fuel pump priming and she was cranking on the starter but no go. So something of a sparky nature on the blink. After a confab(panic phone call :)) with our very own and top bloke Gary ITR, he also reckoned sparky stuff and narrowed it down to the coil packing in. Common with Honda's of a 90s vintage*. So a couple of twenties later and some cursing and scratched knuckles(the screw to remove the dizzy rotor was a right beeatch) up she fired. Yay :D

*to be fair she's got 150,000 K's under her sump so hardly a weak point to have it let go and it was the original one.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

when the glanza would be at idle and the steering wheel in any position other than straight ahead the dash plastics would vibrate like a ****. 3 screw in the column cowling were only hand tight and 2 of the screws in the panel below weren't threaded into anything at all, just the clips holding it on . tightened them all right up and its nice and quiet in there now, although in time it may return.

took the door card off and fiddled with the door check strap too which was very very noisy, all nice and quiet now too.

boring old update but nice quiet car to roll around in now :) hate niggly **** like that, just hadn't had time for any decent pottering around until lately.

I know what ya mean, I've this stupid annoying rattle coming from the passenger side....somewhere. Haven't actually figured out where it's coming from either, which is worse.

Spend two and a half hours cleaning, polishing and waxing my front wheels. I'll probably buy some proper wheel sealant next week but hopefully that'll help keep the brake dust from sticking so much.
Even without claying them (also need to buy) they feel like glass! :D

You seem to be a little mis-informed. There's a bit of a problem if the engine is in the passenger seat area :pac:

They don't deserve it yet. :o

If it happens again try some blue loctite thread lock (or red if you never want to remove it)
