And getting rid of the accelera's pleeease.....I understand that they were likely on it when you got the car and I don't want to sound like I'm having a go but all that time and money spent on making the car so perfect and clean and then you have the cheapest chinese sh1te between you and all that work being rapidly undone.

I was on Holidays last 2 weeks and only seeing this now, your quite right they were on the car when I got it....I had noticed the car was a bit sluggish stopping in the wet but nothing major though..

..I know whats next on the shopping list.:pac:

Bought a Maxxis MAZ4S Victra to replace the dunlop that lose it's life to a kerb and egged the side wall.

Impressive tyre. £62 fitted which is the cheap than camskill delivered.

Thinking of matching the other side and taking off the enduro.

Finally got around to matching them up.

    Pothole 1 Enduro 0.

The runway enduros really are crap tyres.

New auxiliary fan arrived today...for an E39, half the price. :)

    Ice cold air-con again, bliss.

Managed to find a gap in the rain and got out to clean the car - Iron X the wheels, Snowfoam, rinse, two bucket wash, rinse, CleanCar's Rinseaid, Rinse, Dry, CG Speed Wipe, CG New Look Trim Tyre Gel, Armor All Wheel Protectant (been trying to source this for ages to try) and APC the engine bay and hoovered, dusted the inside. I was going to re-polish & re-wax the car but decided I couldn't be arsed.

    IMG_3980.jpg

Also whipped off the front plate and holder to see if I could get away with bumper plugs when I do the plate removal but found no less than TWELVE holes drilled into it. Need to get a few bob together next to get those filled and painted. Looks well without the plate (will relocate the plate to the tow hook so can be removed easily)

Got some SMDs supposedly specifically for the Astra. Nice light, but too big for the fittings, particularly the front.

are the rear ones canbus bulbs? they need to be. 42mm festoon is needed for the front courtesy light. :)

Today I stitched on one of those leather steering wheel sleeves on the Zafira. Looks well and no more steering wheel crap all over my hands :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭whyulittle

Must not be. Despite working in the pic above, when I put the second in all the lights went. Fuse didn't blow though, and eventually they came back of their own accord. All the originals are in and working now.

i wouldnt even try and put smds in the rear lights, people have terrible problems with them. i melted my light fitting even with canbus ones. the front and glovebox are fine though.

It's alright, the back seats are purely for show!

Fitted my 312mm brake disks yesterday, and they went on no problem (thanks folks), was a bit of a pain some of the bolts were welded (almost) but after about 45mins of fighting with them they were freed, you really need a pit to work on these things. Got rid of all the disk rust by submerging them in white spirits for a week which got rid of all the rust and left me with smooth rust free disks.

Was going to fit the rear disks but noticed the seals for the bearings looked a bit shot, I think this maybe down to the white spirits, there was a bit of grease coming out *not sure if these are supposed to be sealed?* but need to look into getting them along with one of the rear calipers refurbished, as don't want to risk one of them seizing also a rubber boot on one caliper is punctured, it might be possible to transfer the old ones to these not sure but work in progress.. brakes are noticeably better with just the new front disks.

Also changed the fuel filter, easy enough job, might put that on a shorter replacement usually do it every 40k.

Just checking! It could have been some pop ****e for all I know like Niki Minge and Pappy Sugar or some bollix like that :P

The cover is a bit on the "meat in pastry and door unlocking item" side.
