Ordered this off ebay for kenwood unit i bought on amazon the other day, the facia arrived today with adaptor, although Im not sure if the adaptor is correct, can anyone help me out by looking at pics?

    heres the product link: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/FORD-FIESTA-MK-4-1995-2002-PANEL-SURROUND-ADAPTOR-FASCIA-STEREO-FITTING-KIT-F8-/150752261066?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item231988f3ca

The following are some pictures of the adaptor endings and facia, if you can see properly the connectors dont seem to match up, I hope these pictures suffice, I know theyre not in the best order or organised very well but any help would be appreciated. Havent got new headunit yet.

Yeah they're the right ones by the look of it!

Nearly 100% I have a spare set of them lying at home if you want them

Thanks tallon but il check out if they work when the headunit comes this week, I was just scared that plugging into the unit might break it if the adaptor is wrong?

Also, the facia fits the space nicely but does not clip in, it sits there nice but can be pulled out, would it be okay to superglue it in or will the headunit provide the clip or whatever to hold the facia in place?

Never superglue things in cars.. That's a rule I have

I'll figure something out hopefully, I want to use the facia I have as it adds a pocket for phones etc which is needed in car no where to put stuff

I presume you fitted the clutch switch and connected the wiring behind the clocks too? :)

Shelf is a must have in the Astra glovebox it's stupid there isn't one as standard.

I have a mini torch in the same place as yours too :P

Where are you getting the cc activated? Don't go to a dealer for it anyway, opcom is your man.

Its a car I've always wanted from a young age, my dream car if you must. Got it in a time when those cars were starting to disappear off the roads. Now theres nearly none left as daily drivers!

It needs work and I have a lot of the bits. Pipes need replacing, electrics need a bit of work and the body has a few bits of rust. But the car is older than me so that's expected :)

I hope to have it done up and ready for events/shows in a few years, along with the Alfa :)

I`d love an E34 myself but finding a manual one that doesn't like its about to expire is tricky.Probably the last of the great BMW`s if you ask me.

Around carricmacross there is a furniture place with a few E34s, all 12vs and most importantly manuals. I think its like me, has about 2 others to keep an 88 Sport alive

Theres even a house in the town with a manual M30 engined 530i, hiding behind a hedge slowly decaying

And yes, I asked about them all at some stage :)

Good man DGT, if ever a car warranted resurrection it is the E34. Parts are still available and not that expensive if you look in the right places. They still have a very loyal following from those in the know but good ones are very rare now. Best of luck with it.

It's Tiptronic so everything should already be in place. I'm bringing it for a service to an ex-Opel dealer mechanic tomorrow and hoping he'll be able to activate it. Have a few other things with the locks/windows to get Tech2'ed as well.

I only recently found out you could put the shelf in, had to get it then. And the torch fits just perfect! :D

I bought 2 520i's as spares cars, both 24 models (wouldn't dare strip an M20 engined E34) and used a good few parts in that car. I'll be keeping this one alive and kicking, just needs a good going over. She started on the button last night like it was just stopped a few minutes before :)

Tech2/Op-com, whatever he has access to/gets the job done. ;)

The comfort close, deadlocks and anti-hijacking. I sound a bit paranoid there, but nah, just handy to have them all.

Don't have any good pics, so here's one from today's rain.

Nothing special but she gets me around - '06 GTC.

the dead locks and anti hijacking should be standard on the gtc? how do you find the tiptronic?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,386 ✭✭✭shortys94

Does anyone know if it is easy to replace a valve cover gasket? I have a 02 fiesta and it needs to be replaced, bought the part, which looks simple enough, would it be very hard to install? Never done before and don't have idea about engines

Buy hers, I like mine. :D

Whether they should be or not, they're not on mine. From what I've read, you can turn on the anti-hijacking by holding down the lock button on the dash until it beeps. If it doesn't beep, it needs to be activated first. Double clicking the keyfob doesn't deadlock the car, but I can open and close the windows with the fob.

I'm sure it's not for everyone, but I like the Tiptronic. I wasn't looking for any type of auto, but I was happy to take it as part of this car. You can still shift with the stick, but your left leg can take it easy. :)

I brought the Passat to George Dalton to get the airbag light sorted. It's a grand spin down from Athlone, and nice to be off motorways for a while.
