Replaced crappy old wiper blades with nice new wiper blades.
Bought some Meguiar's leather cleaner & conditioner and gave the inside a clean. My steering wheel no longer feels manky, so win.

Speed bumps being used as ramps?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,729 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

Oh god, I can understand that.
Here in Tallaght you either don't see them 'till you're no them or they're like the surface of the moon. They're so bad that Nick can't come into my estate in his Civic.

Have you had a look at your suspension/wheels? I'd hate to think the same bump that knocked that out could have messed them up.

Ever been to Tyrrelstown? Speed bumps every few metres. Only drove through it once (houses and flats) in the van. Worst journey ever :(

We've actually had arguments with the council about them. They are taller, closer spaced, and nearer to junctions by a decent margin than FCC's guidelines state. But they just trot out the bull**** arguments of a) they're only guidlines and b) the developer put them in so it's not our problem.

The developer only put them in because FCC required it as part of the PP

There's a couple of guys here that have needed suspension work done due to them.

Oh my heart goes out to you, I know how awful the ramps are there :(

I took a wrong turn into there. My ladyfriend nearly threw up and everything in the van was shook everywhere. No matter what speed I took the bumps at or how I took them it made no difference to how uncomfortable it was!!!

I would honestly go out and destroy them myself

Started/drove the car for the first time in a month yesterday, haven't been in the country.

Surprisingly the battery was grand, started first time no problems. Aside from a slight squeak from the brakes everything was fine, so back to normal with a 160 mile drive :D, hit 143k miles too.

Washed and polished the car today, really should have waxed it, but I was getting lazy. Supposed to be raining tomorrow too:mad: If I get a chance I'll HD wax it!

Also replaced the wipers too...well attempted to do it just there, but one of the clips for removing the wipers is broken on the passenger side so will have to take a look in the morning.

could it be the cigarette lighter ? ......:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,985 ✭✭✭✭dgt

Yep pretty headwrecking :( but at least I know that the earths on the drivers door and passengers door are perfect now! Even after a new alternator it still refuses to work right.... :( but I've narrowed it down to a relay! To find out what it does is the next task.... ;)

As for the cig lighter I'll try that for the crack and see how much of the car gets taken apart :pac:

A bit of T-cut with a lot of elbow grease.
    Photo0259.jpg?t=1346684917

Also washed her and give her a waxy polish. :) Oh and a de-badge. :)
    Photo0262.jpg?t=1346684956

    Photo0261.jpg?t=1346684939

The car soap cost 2Euro and the polish cost 4Euro. pleased with the results. :)
