These finally arrived from China after a 3 week wait

They go into the recess on the seat height adjustment lever, will hopefully get them in this afternoon and stick up an in-situ pic.

Looks great man, I prefer the subtle one! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,106 ✭✭✭dar83

Really? Hmmmm, I was definitely swaying towards the Smoked, but the only thing stopping me is the potential loss of light through it. Which turns out is actually less than I thought it would be, but it does take the glare off the fog light somewhat...

    Appreciate the feedback though.

    Decisions decisions...

    another vote for subtle.

smoked might come across a little tacky. not that there is a night and day difference between either of them really.

Definitely smoked for me. Don't mind gollywog, he thinks his pink car is red

EDIT: and andy owned a vectra :P

    Haha.

Yeah I was swaying towards Smoked as it ties in with the front end of the car better imo. Matte black grilles and fog surrounds etc...

I guess I can always try it out and see what it looks like. Stuff aint cheap though. :o

    Worth it though

Car washed and sealed > Check

Wheels.tyres under arches cleaned and sealed . Check

Have a look at this guys build thread on his ST. Lots of engine and body mods, it was a track car too and with big power.

I really like this photo though. He has removed his fogs for the air intakes.

    Nice!

If I was going to run something like a K&N Gen2 induction kit then I might consider that alright. It does look funky and I'd say it's more than practical but for regular road use it would be a bit of overkill. :)

He should look at getting the block mod done and getting it to 400bhp now. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,719 ✭✭✭Hal1

Unfortunately he put it back to standard and is in the process of selling all his mods . I've been watching that thread for a year and he put some amount of effort into her.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,106 ✭✭✭dar83

Yeah I just looked through the topic and realised i recognise the car from STOC!

Reading those things makes me want to go out and buy all the mods I'm trying my best not to, if only for the hassle of actually finding someone to insure it here, not the costs involved. So irritating in this country that insurance is the biggest hurdle!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,719 ✭✭✭Hal1

Yeah, declaring mods is the problem in this country. Ah it's only 1.4 on the log booook . That's why it's so bad though I guess. Most of the owners clubs get members discounted insurance for modified cars over there.

Today finished an 800km round trip to Lahinch in the 159. The car is so comfortable on the motorway but is begging for cruise control. Think the mpg was good too but I couldn't be bothered to work it out.:o

Some seriously good roads down there around County Clare though but jaysus on a bike they drive fast down there.

In other motoring related news, out for a walk this evening around my area, this couple came out of their house and proceeded to reverse their car out the driveway. The (presumed) husband was driving and stalled the car..........5 times in a row I kid you not. The (presumed) wife got fed up, went over kicked him out the car got in, started it and continued the manoeuvre as normal, not stalling once.

    Oh how I did lol...:D

There's a factory lip kit you can get for the Astra h called an xterior pack. It's virtually unseen on 5doors in Ireland. I have spent honestly probably one hundred hours trying to source them in England since I got the car last year, with em becoming quite scarce now. They are 800€ unpainted from England, and were 1,000€ to buy from new with the penta alloys.

Today, I picked it up from 2 Lithuanian car part dealers in athlone for €100!

Getting my buddy's brother to respray and fit it for 200 and voila! Biggest bargain of my life!

Yep. Major mistake by whoever specced the car. Makes it quite tiresome on long journeys.

Would be a bit far for a Sunday spin for me but I completely agree. We went from Ennis to Spanish Point to Lahinch and the roads were just spot on. The encourage you to drive properly. It was epic alright even in a diesel wagon..:o

Bought 4 second hand alloy wheels and tyres today for a good price from a lad i work with.

i'l be unhappy to take the original wheels off of the car, but needs must for the NCT and with college reg fees coming up in september, penny pinching is a must.

the 4 tyres on the wheels are 80/90% ish, 2 hankook optimos and 2 nankang toursports. still pisspoor brand names but at least i'm featuring good thread depth. and it was cheaper than 4 part worns i reckon.

so kind of a bad update for the glanza right there.
