    406 now clean inside :)

Fitted the tail box back on :)
    Image2211.jpg

I tore out the insides, cut the tail pipe off, re welded the box and new tail pipe as it was rotten inside... Much nicer to drive now, different car :)

Oh and another car gets its engine and box torn out :pac:

Was that timing belt change recent?

Tosay, I had a go fix the front speakers. I was really expecting a rake of wires. in the form of spaghetti. But there was just two. :)

    Photo0208.jpg?t=1344289242
Blue wire disconnected. Time to test it. :)
    Photo0206.jpg?t=1344289443
Does it work, I hear ye ask...:p
    Photo0209.jpg?t=1344289696
    YES, INDEED IT DOES!
I turned it up full blast, the Bass nearly blew the hair off my head. :pac::cool:

I fixed the driverside and passengerside speakers.
Tomorrow I have a fiddle with the rear speakers. :)

    What one did you have?

Sadly its not done yet, on the list of jobs to do. At £350 for the kit it's on the very long finger!

I just got rid of a 00 147 last week, got €650 and a 01 Punto for it :D Sold the Punto for €300 the next day :D:D

£350 sounds a bit much. I priced one at €30, don't know if it would suit a 166 though.

Sorry :o, I thought it would have fit because they were both Alfa :o

Anyway dgt, if you like I'll price one next time I'm up there and let you know

The belt on its own is cheap enough, around £35. With the 2 rollers and tensioner the price goes up substancially.

Cheers, the belt is on the very long finger as I drive the car very little anyway and have other cars to sort first! But thanks all the same :)

Expect an update for the E34 soon...

Noticed today my auxiliary fan isn't spinning when the air con is activated, return pipe heading for the evaporator is red hot.
    It's doing this:

It's just one bloody thing after another, €450 for a plastic fan is a joke.

Can you replace it with something 'generic' like a Kenlowe ?
Or does the BM have extra gubbins in the fan that tells the ECU that something is not correct ?

It has extra crap like variable speed start, based on data taken from the ECU. You can do diagnostic tests with the BMW software, but its obviously knackered!

There are aftermarket ones, even they start at €190+. Could rig up four 120cm PC fans in series and just connect them to ignition, same bloody thing! :p

I had a quick look at them rear speekers, The look "okish" to the naked eye. But will have a closer look at them tomorrow. The radio is displaying "Check" so I will get that code tomorrow as well. :)

You could try www.fabdirect.com, I've used them in the past and found them very knowledgable.

Got some Lamin-X samples in the post so decided to test them out on the front Fogs.

Bottom is their Subtle Tint, top is their Gun Smoke. I'm thinking I'm gonna go for Gun Smoke. Will try and get a pic of them both fitted to the car later on.

I bought wiper blades from micksgarage last week and they had arrived by 8am the next day. I fitted them this morning and drove for the first time in a few weeks since damaging my shoulder.

Insured it for another year. Last year's policy (first car policy, previously only had commercial insurance) was €1,500 so I was a bit disappointed that this year's renewal quote with Allianz was €1,370. Shopped around a fair bit and quotes ranged from €1,200 to €1,800. Called into my local FBD office and got my year's policy fully comprehensive with NCB Protector Plus, Breakdown Assistance and Open Drive for €830. Where some companies get their quotes from, I'll never know ...

For a big ass car, the front bumper comes off E38s with just 6 little screws, had to get to the auxiliary fan:

    080820127893.jpg

    That's one big bumper!

Years of crap in front of the rads, cleaned some out already in these:

Rang Prentice BMW today, €470 ex VAT for a new one! Ha ha! :D

Gonna look into aftermarket or getting this one refurbished. It's a Siemens unit so hopefully will have some joy.
