The time is approaching and people need to get to Miami, the flights I was looking at increased £160 overnight so if people are booking flights, enquiring about flights, ESTA or can recommend some sites to get deals, put it in here.
I'm still looking at Heathrow to Miami flights, then will worry about getting to & from London after.

You really need to keep on eye on them, yesterday I could have bought my flights for £400. This sorta thing happens every year.

I'm hoping to have to pay no more than £800 for my flights, you think that should be enough?

When you booking your flights mate?

Per person? Should be a lot less than £800. If mine get as low as £400 again I'll book straight away.
Im going from Tuesday 27th March to Wednesday 4th April.
    Where are you flying from?

Yeah £800 would be the highest I will pay, hopefully should get them around 500-600.

Not sure yet when I am flying out, I would love to go out and visit Orlando before it but I am at Uni so will have to keep the trip as short as possible so will most likely make the trip Wednesday to Wednesday.

Not sure yet where I will be flying from, most likely either Glasgow or London.

Cool, Id love to do Orlando too, may end up going for SD if its there, but I now love starting my Mania week even earlier, catch the Art show & early Axxess sessions. Heathrow has some great direct flights to Miami. Lots of options.

Yeah I reckon I will fly from London, SD doesnt bother me to much but I would like to go seeing as I am out there, problem would be getting from Miami to Orlando, then back to Miami for the flight home

Theres always the bus option, its very doable anyway. Just depends on your budget for traveling. You'll probably need plenty of taxis in Miami too.

Budget wise I am looking at taking about £1000 out there with me to spend, you reckon that would be enough ?

Yeah definitely. My biggest problem is mercy spending. The good thing about transport prices is there's always others going where you are & you can share taxis. Cuts costs nicely.

For me, coming from Maryland in the States, early look has me dishing out roughly $300 USD to fly down from 3/30 to 4/3. May wind up going down earlier though.

I've seen flights from Manchester - Chicago - Miami then Miami - New York - Manchester for a week was £450, pretty reasonable. That was on expedia.

you should be fine prices always go down around January and stay around 400-500

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 589 ✭✭✭killyourtv

Every single year I wait until January to get my flights, and I always get them for around £400 - £450.

Some people worry and rush in and pay too much.

Half the fun is booking and looking at flights.
    It's exciting. :)

you should get that route for about $150-170 return with southwest from baltimore to fort lauderdale when the times comes and fort lauderdale airport is closer to the stadium than miami international

I will but keep in mind that was just heathrow to Miami & back again. No Irish flights, but I'd figure they can be gotten without worry at a later stage.

with this amount of time you'd pick up a really cheap aer lingus flight - or an even cheaper aer lingus flight and then get the tube to the good airport!! ;)

where did you see these flights? expedia weren't giving me as good offers!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,785 ✭✭✭Kane-N-Nite

2 days ago you would have. All sites jumped at least £160 over night. I'm just gonna keep searching. Expedia.co.uk worked out a good bit cheaper than expedia.ie

Clear your cookies kids!, A flight i check regularly on the Aer Lingus site was listed recently at €91 I check it every few days to see if the price is changed until i have the money to book it,Then one day it went up to €183 and I remembered my brother told me he had heard on the radio that when people look at flights regularly they use that info to up the price for you so you panic and purchase thinking it's constantly increasing

So I cleared my cookies for the Aer lingus website and low and behold when I checked price was back to €91,just a small piece of advice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,785 ✭✭✭Kane-N-Nite

Tried that already but to no avail. It changed on every electronic device I use to check prices so it was just an overnight hike.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,492 ✭✭✭EdK

Sorry to hear,Just alerting people to some sneaky tactics,Isn't always the reason for price hikes unfortunately though

Yes, they will, they always do, just may not be for a few months, or fingers crossed, weeks.

I checked flights about a week ago from Manchester to Miami (indirect) and was around £400. Checked now, showing as approx £560, which is a shame haha.

Do the prices really fluctuate that much week to week? And is it expected to lower again later in the year, or early next year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,785 ✭✭✭Kane-N-Nite

Id imagine if you don't check for a couple weeks the price will change, but maybe not for the better. They should definitely be gone down with a couple months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 168 ✭✭Hendo9

Anywhere near £400 again and ill book instantly!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,785 ✭✭✭Kane-N-Nite

Just booked my flights! £407 direct from heathrow! Woo!

British Airways, Expedia, pretty much any flight comparison site.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 230 ✭✭JamesMania

I cant see any really cheap direct flights but theres ones with 1 stop for only 395, thats pretty good

The stop in in boston in the way out and the flight back is direct

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,785 ✭✭✭Kane-N-Nite

They have gone up since this morning. Mine are £481 now. I got lucky.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9 AdamJW

Good job on the Heathrow flight! £407 good deal.

The Manchester ones I've been looking at have come down today too. Approx £420 with 1 stop - although I don't mind stopping, as long as it arrives in the early evening.

Try travelsupermarket - they're showing ones from airports in London for less than 400 (with stops though)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 168 ✭✭Hendo9

    Luckyyy!

But at least it shows they will drop back down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 168 ✭✭Hendo9

Also.. any idea why Delta flights show up at 10 hours 30 minutes... whereas British Airways are only 9 hours 45?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,785 ✭✭✭Kane-N-Nite

I was wondering that myself. Maybe its just an approx time. Cant be that much of a difference from leaving the same airport.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,785 ✭✭✭Kane-N-Nite

Flights seem to be back down at £407 direct from Heathrow.

pretty much ignore what the airlines say regarding how long a flight takes and use this site for actual real flight times, it tracks the exact time a flight takes from takeoff (not leaving the gate) till the wheels touch the tarmac in the destination airport, thats the results of 2 weeks delta 261 direct from heathrow to miami, average there you are looking at about an 9hr 20mins in the air http://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL261

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 247 ✭✭Memnoch99

Some airlines do that just to cover themselves-if they get you there quicker than the estimate brilliant if not then they did say it could take 10 hours plus. Technical stuff comes in to it as well like weather and the route they take. (aircraft rarely fly in a straight line-watch the inflight tracker next time your on a flight to see what I mean).

Anyway for anyone that doesnt make a habit out of longhaul flights to the states ;) and are booking flights dont always be fooled by thinking the direct option is best. Direct flights are always more expensive and sometimes having to connect breaks up the travelling and is nice to stretch your legs etc. Plus its nearly always cheaper.
