Are these backward compatible with USB 2.0?

I'm thinking it does, from one of the reviews "In practice this drive writes at about 30 MB/sec into USB 3.0 port which is about 2 times quicker than when used in a USB 2.0 port. "

It's a smashing deal, the WD 1TB Passport is €99 in PC World, also USB powered which is a great advantage when moving the drive.

Edit yes seems it is according to this video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Re2aZENq8e4

Same drive €129.90 on Iomegas site http://go.iomega.com/en/products/external-hard-drive-portable/ego-portable-series-usb-3/ego-silver-usb-3/?partner=4725

Yeah, USB 3.0 is backwards compatible.

Just be aware that this isn't a particularly fast drive for USB 3.0. That goes some way towards explaining the low price. It's a great deal if that doesn't bother you though.

The next cheapest 1TB 2.5" external on Amazon is about £60 and that's only USB 2.0.

Great price, maybe even a misprice but worth a shot. Cheers OP

It seems to be gone out of stock now at Amazon direct, so the price on the page jumped to £95. If you click here ("28 new from £35.79") you can still order it for the lower price. Don't now about the delivery date then, though.

    just gone mine also
stupid price so i had no option
a price this low for a portable 1tb will never be beaten

paid £98 for a buffalo 1tb last year

it'll be interesting to see how long this lasts

That's where I ordered from and got the following in the confirmation mail:
"Usually dispatched within 2 to 4 weeks
    Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L."

Don't mind the wait, great price, cheers OP!!!
