That's right. Tiger got to -12 in 2000.

Devastated I didn't back McIlroy for a Top 10 finish at 2.36 earlier in the week, looked a little bit big for me! :(

The guy is playing unbelievable golf at the minute.
2 days left, but I would be surprised if he messes this one up!

I really hope he can win it.

Exactly, in 2000 woods got to -12 with a triple bogey. US opens are played on the most demanding golf courses. This is an epic achievement.

Hopefully he can keep it up

just finishing work. am i missing something, is there no TV coverage of this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

he was never going to go through the whole tournament without encountering a few problem holes. Its how he copes after he has a bad hole that will win or loose him the tournament. Key for Rory now is the 1st few holes tomorrow.

-11 not bad going to be honest

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

Screw that for a finish. A bogey wouldn't have been too bad but a double takes some gloss off the round. Two successive 65's would have been sweet.

    1) The slums of Chicago are full of 1st and 2nd round leaders.

    2) Leading a Major after three rounds and $3 will get you an Americano in Starbucks.

Too many wild statements in this thread about Rors. He's done incredibly well so far but we've a guy with a seemingly unassailable lead who has form when it comes to throwing away seemingly unassailable leads.

Fingers crossed but there's a long long way to go.

pity about last hole, bad second shot but its a tough finishing hole. -11 great score after 2 rounds. He will have at least a 5 shot lead i would imagine, cant see anyone get past -6. definitely tougher conditions in afternoon, the greens are drying out and will be firmer.

Rory's a far better player than Tiger was at this stage.

And the award for this thread's most ridiculous statement goes to Gnobe...
