I think this is one of the most wide open majors in the last 10 years.

Westwood and Donald as favourites are good bets at 10/1

My money is on Shane Lowry EW at 125/1.

Out first on Thursday, noon on Friday.

A good start in cool conditions should stand to him.

Played well in heat in Abu Dhabi last year.

Hits it long and straight, the longest course in US Open history!

    Who you on??

I agree it is wide open.
I fancy Stricker taking it this year, he is plating really well at the moment.

Of course Mickleson will want to win this too as I dont think he has one it before and time is running out and he may not have a better chance.

unfortunately dont think McElroy or Harrington will win, McDowell will do well though.

Just hoping its a good tourney...

he should be 1125/1 imo,he just doesn't have the all round game to compete,in fact i'd say he's odds on to miss the cut
have Donald backed since the start of the year at odds of 25/1 down to my last bet on him last week at 14's,havn't backed anyone else.......yet

    Donald @10 & KJ @ 33 for me.

thinking now, Mickleson & Dustin Johnson will be the ones to watch!

I cant see Luke Donald winning on such a long course,he isnt the longest of hitters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,431 ✭✭✭dvemail

Have to fancy McIlroy doing well here, this course will require a long straight hitter.
But his short game will have to be on song. Could suit Mickelson with his short game skills.
Think the course will be too long for the likes of Donald and McDowell even though he is sneaky long.

    Aaron Baddeley ;)

Masters longest driver McIlroy should definitely there Sunday afternoon!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,759 ✭✭✭Dr.Silly

Camilo Villegas, Jason Day, and Adam Scott for me.

donald will have a decent chance despite being short off the tee. a lively outsider is f molinari@150/1

Jason Day and KJ for me

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,429 ✭✭✭Mr. Larson

This time I'm going for Mickleson (12/1), Ogilvy (50/1) and Allenby (100/1).

Fiver each way on all three.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 468 ✭✭dines08

Had Schwartzel €10 each way for The Masters. Made a nice €400 off it. Looking at Kj for this one. Always there or there abouts. Putts brilliantly on fast greens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

    Watney (28/1), Villegas (100/1) & Noren (200/1) all e/w.

I'll be backing Harrington to miss the cut also but can't find an open market on that yet.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,528 ✭✭✭foxyboxer

    I'd go with Matt Kuchar.
Definitely has major credentials in his game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭shaggykev

i think Anthony Kim is a huge price

has been rank rotten this season(hence the huge price) but loves it around this course

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,648 ✭✭✭AGC

KJ is the bet for me. 33's and has won there. Will also do Garcia(60's), decent form despite last week and has won there.

Going to do Westwood and Mickleson from the fav's and a few quid on Scott. Williams is caddying for him.

Kuchar you will get your monies worth

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 693 ✭✭✭Uncle Mclovin

Dustin Johnson would be my favourite. Only problem is that he regularly coughs up a double which can kill momentum. He's 25/1 with PP

You'd have to fancy Watney (30/1) and Westwood (11/1) for their ability to hit fairways.

Of the young 'uns I'd have to say Rickie Fowler (75/1)

    Outsider - Adam Scott (60/1).

Just for the record. The whole needing to be a long hitter thing is just a myth. Plenty of shorter hitters have won on long courses. Hitting FIR's is far more important than distance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 948 ✭✭✭SSK

It's wide open really, I fancy some of the lesser heralded young guns to go well, so:

    Day @ 50/1
    Baddeley @ 66/1
    Byrd @ 80/1

Can't see any of the rank outsides contending on such a tough course.

Have a weird feeling that Sergio might (finally) come good this week ?

His tee to green game is excellent and his putting has picked up a lot.

Just have a hunch he might be there or thereabouts.

    I'll be going with
    Mahan 22/1
    Kucher 25/1
    Watney 30/1

    Outside bet..Cabrera 100/1

Throw away money outside fantasy bet..Colsaerts 250/1:D
All PP. Pays first 6 e/w.

See Adam Scott has Tiger's caddy Stevie Williams on the bag, he's gotta be worth a few bob.

Cabrera and Van Pelt for me

    obviously not using betfair!

I got him on Friday at 44/1 and he was -4, only four off the lead

I tipped Scwartzel on boards before the masters and had him @ 90 to 1 :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 687 ✭✭✭kano476

PP paying 6 places at the moment. Backed Donald 14/1 KJ 33/1 and outside bet of Manassero at 70/1. Had yang before the masters and was nearly tempted to back him again thought he was in with a shout there for a while just fell off the pace a bit!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

    Went with Rory McIlroy @ 18/1, Mannasero @ 70/1 and Byrd @ 80/1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 792 ✭✭✭KombuchaMshroom

Hunter Mahan for me @ 22/1 is a great bet! Has pretty decent recent major record with plenty of top 10s and has a great record at the Congressional.

Lucas Glover @ 60/1 for my outside bet then.

In last 4 PGA Tournaments played here winners were Garcia, Choi, Kim and Woods.

Furyk and Huntar Mahan have always finished well at this course as well so could be worth an each way bet.

Have done a few small e/ws on

    Quiros
    Poulter
    Fowler
    Laird
    Crane
    Dufner
    Simpson

Going to pick one from Phil, Kuchar, Mahan or Watney as my main bet. Still thinking but Watney is seriously tempting me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 503 ✭✭✭poteen

Ok , I just did my bets at Ladbrokes theer at Lunch. A change of tactics from my earlier post. All Small bets and all to win

    Phil 16/1
    Alvaro Quiros 100/1
    Rory 20/1

    Rory McIlroy 23 €4.00 €88.00
    Bubba Watson 48 €4.00 €188.00
    Aaron Baddeley 110 €4.00 €436.00
    Rory Sabbatini 170 €4.00 €676.00

    betfair.......

lowry is 500/1 on betfair, if you think he's going to win, it sort of worth your while!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,916 ✭✭✭Ormus

    i've already laid my bets

don't wanna get involved in betfair as it would turn me into a regular gambler

i don't really think lowry will win, anyone who does is crazy, i just think he is unpredictable and 250/1 gives good value for the chance he will go on a birdie streak

Betfair is the way to go if your backing anything over 80/1 in some cases you get double or more for players with 150/1 in bookies.
