Much the same, prize bonds are effectively a free loan to the state at this stage.

I don't have any Prize Bonds but am planning on purchasing 200k worth, I know returns are going to be bad.

On the practicalities of purchasing, I have a SSCN and the money is currently in my UB current account. Is there any way of getting the money to state savings using my visa debit card or via EFT. Or am I stuck with having to visit the bank and post office in person and using a draft (I don't have a cheque book)

Debit card is one of the options. Including purchase over the phone by debit card.

I purchased the same amount some years back using a UB debit card and the state savings website. At the time the UB daily limit was €50k, so it required 4 x €50k transactions on different days. UB may have reduced their daily limit to €25k since then.

Have you registered for a State Savings On-Line account ? It isn’t mandatory but it makes sense in the long run. https://www.statesavings.ie/begin-registration

Nothing for me today. The number of €50 prizes in each of the December draws is 4,225 up from 4,199 in November.

The newest bond to win on 05 November was AYF 615132. Newest 03 December AYN 265103. Sales of around €48 million.

Interest rate used to be a lot higher.

2000 2.75%.

2004 2.4%

Sept 2007 3%.

Jan 2012 2.25%

June 2012 1.75%.

Dec 2013 1.6%

Nov 2014 1.25%.

July 2016 0.85%.

Aug 2017 0.5%.

Feb 2021 0.35%.

That 0.35% is around 0.25% in the real world, when applied to €50 prizes.

Prize Bonds €250,000 Draw, 30th December 2021 - The last day to purchase Prize Bonds to ensure inclusion in the €250,000 Draw is 11th December.

That draw is on a Thursday. I would guess that the draw before that will be on Thursday 23rd. The site at 11.41 is saying next draw 17 Dec, but that should not be there until today's draw (10th) is done.
