I know the Woolshed and one other un-named pub in Cork that claim to screen 3 x 3pm games every saturday.

Using IPTV aswell, so I think its madness in a big city! Asking for trouble advertising it too!

if they pay sky for the full commercial/ pub subscription the there are no problems with having the extra 3pm games . its when you are not pay sky when problems come about .

Just to add: Nova is in a EU country; free movement of goods and services directive.

Isn't there a further issue here though

The subscription to Nova was a personal subscription and not a commercial subscription

So if you pay Sky they turn a blind eye, if you don't then expect a visit!

Sounds like commercial bullying to me

Bein Sports has gone crap again. They've changed the player which seems to have an infatuation with buffering. No audio channel swap either.

Why do they insist on fiddling about with the bloody thing? Month's sub runs out in a few days, probably won't renew it until it's more reliable.

    Anyone else having issues?

apparently they will not be bringing back the language button

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,043 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

yes 11 will but a lot of games that are on the others you wont get english on anymore

Including La Liga. Barca games are never on 11. :(

It's like Bein just want to lose subscribers. Baffling.

new player has no set bitrate its auto matic changes and buffers and is useless

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,043 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

Bein sports us has the brazil v colombia friendly on and thats available via comcast xfinity so ill be watching it in there rather than the new mena player

Had my first chance to watch using the new player, I was looking forward to seeing some American football but the player is at least 3 steps backwards. Worse picture quality/buffering etc. No audio language change possible. No split screen(maybe I just haven't found this option but its not as intuitive as before). To make matters worse the adverts weren't aligned with the Fox broadcast so parts of the game were missed. When I first got Al Jazeera sport I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Now, it's a pale imitation of what it was 2 seasons ago and no-where near as good as the start of last season. If these awful changes are because of EPL lawsuits I'd prefer they dropped the English league all together, even though it's the league I have the most interest in, I'd prefer if they did the other leagues/sports well rather than everything badly. Really disappointed.

Agreed. My sub runs out on the 12th. Not renewing it or the DNS until I read positive words about the service.

    What a shambles. :(

So Bein is gone. Cancelled that. Using Star app today hooked in to my TV via MHL.

Watching Barca vs Bilbao. It's in English. Crystal clear picture. Only 2 little buffer blips so far.

All for 400 rupees for the season inc EPL and what not. Don't know what Star have done but their service appears to have drastically improved. Hopefully that's my Barca coverage sorted for the season. Hopefully Star won't 'do a Bein'.

    Happy days. :)

I have also let my Bein contract run out. Have premiership sorted with PLP.

Star Sports do they also do the champions league?

mbutler2007: It was 400 rupees. I got a special offer pre-season from the Star website. It's an all-football pass only though. Maybe it's 4000 rupees for the cricket, F1 etc?

You'll need a VPN or DNS capable of covering India and nearby countries. All I do is use either the PC player, which a few weeks ago was rubbish, or the Android app. I then hook up my phone via the MHL cable to my AV system and play it on the television.

The Barcelona match was great for 2/3's of the match today. Then the picture broke up. Looked like an actual Star technical issue as locals were complaining too.

The Liverpool vs Villa match I have on the computer right now and it's crystal clear, top notch quality. For now...

One thing that is for sure though, even at it's worst today, and a few weeks ago, Star, in my opinion, is infinitely better than the new Bein system. That player is awful. Not to mention the audio swap option is now gone. Serves them right if legitimate customers leave in droves. They've only themselves to blame for charging the same amount of money for a crippled service.

If Bein buck their ideas up, I'll go back to them. Can't see it in the near future though. Delighted Star Sports show La Liga on a separate channel though. It's the only reason I subscribed to either Star or Bein. It's a shame Star don't show The Championship, as Bein was handy for that, though they never seemed to schedule Norwich matches. I don't know if they do CL matches though, someone else here will likely be far better qualified to answer than I, a total newbie. :o

Feel sorry for the folks wanting EPL though, it's a rough deal for everyone right now, but Star, again in my humble opinion, appears to be going great guns. They've been superb today (technical issues aside). :)

EDIT: Here's a pic, the camera on my phone makes it blurry, but the real life pic is razor sharp. Shame Ronaldo went and put in a penalty after that. Hmph!

    jBFsByt.jpg

EDIT 2: And a screenshot from the PC player itself. It's compressed and resized to jpg, but gives you an idea hopefully. :)

    Bein Sport via satellite
Finding it hard to keep up with all the changes. I understand from the feedback on this thread that Bein streaming now doesn't (or at least doesnt always) have english audio anymore. Furthermore, they don't necessarily have every EPL game anymore.

Can anyone confirm if this is also the case for Bein Sport via satellite??

Bein Sport 11HD on sat. is in English.

But no Bein Sport stations are showing the Utd match now.

and thanks i really thought there is no alternative for Bein

Not sure if that's allowed here? Bit off topic as well as it's about Al Jazeera (apologies it was me that took it off topic).

Watched the Man Utd match today on Star and it was near-flawless again. Couple of image blips. But again, in comparison to Bein it's night and day. It's just a shame as Bein has so much stuff. Golf, Tennis etc.

Still, for 400 rupees for the season I'm not complaining! Star are definitely my favourite so far! :)

Here is a quick screenshot from the Getafe match live right now (made it a bit smaller today as the last pics were huge!).

Liveonsat show "bein sports mena 1 & 11HD for that game. I take it they are supposed to be showing it but are not?

Bizarre. I guess it's not implausible that they have had to cut back due to legal/contractual problems with the EPL but surely there would be some clarity as to what has been decided in that regard....

The Bein streaming service isn't allowed to show any EPL matches full stop. The satellite service is allowed. This is due to recent whinging from the Premier League because they need to help Man Utd pay their players wages. :p

No sign of it changing in the near future, and according to word on t'Internet, Bein sports official line is that the new player is here to stay.

..............................for the record, Star have been 99% excellent today. Crystal clear Utd v QPR. Sevilla v Getafe has been utter crystal again. Really would love to know what the lads and lasses at Star have done because at the start of the season they were bloody appauling.

EDIT: One sweet thing I discovered today for the La Liga coverage, they show the proper, FULL BBVA pictures. Including the post-match interviews, which are overdubbed by the commentator in English. Brilliant!!! Don't even get that on Sky Sports!

    [/brown-nosingStarSports] :D
