Would a hdmi to a rgb component cable work with this box, as I only have one hdmi port on my tv and would like to use this component cable to enable pip on my tv

    Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,427 ✭✭✭swoofer

Is not that simple, the hdmi outputs in digital format so you need an hdmi converter as well.

    1. HDMI cable from receiver to hdmi component converter then

    2. HDMI - component cable from converter to HDTV.

Cable is cheap but converter may be difficult to get. whole lot about 80 euro

Yeah I agree, have it as a feature is fair enough but to openly advertsise that way I think is wrong.

I don't know if anyone else noticed but the PDF manual attached elsewhere in this thread has some very small but dodgy images under the Media section. Very strange thing to see in such a document.

Indeed it is, perhaps this is ok for the Polish market but not here I think

another vote of thanks to Tony for his first class customer service from me; my receiver arrived on Friday but I haven't had a chance to unpack it yet, never mind set it up! I think I'll hang on until the mooted firmware to address the lip sync issue is released.

    Cheers Tony :)

The lip sync issue is not as bad as people are making out, well at least not on my box connected via HMDI. Its only really noticeable sometimes on ITV1 HD.

It would in noway stop me from connecting my box.

My dad was so impressed with-it, he is throwing his sky box out the window (his words)

Thanks for the kind words but I must apologise that the lip sync issue was not spotted by me before we shipped any receivers.

To be fair I think its affecting boxes to different degrees and really it should not be happening at all . Its visible on Astra 1 which can be received in Poland so this should have been noticed.

I'll get my first chance to set mine up this evening when I get home from work so I am interested to see how it goes.

Just curious Tony, have you put a hold on shipping these boxes due to the sync issues or are they still available to purchase from you at the moment?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,325 ✭✭✭✭Tony

Yes I have a hold on shipping until we get the new firmware . There is a facility on the page to be notified by email when they are available again if thats any help.

Dodgy to you maybe, and what about the other poster here who couldn't bring himself to spell out the word 'porn' & wrote 'p**n' instead?

    Grow up FFS.

Whoa now, that's a bit of an overreaction? They're entitled to their opinion, even if the pictures don't bother me. It's quite peculiar to see in a manual though!

I wrote it that way so it wouldn't be flagged as inappropriate.

I would assume that we're all grown ups here but I'm still entitled to filter my content as and when I wish.

I have had my first play with the Ariva 120 just now. I am afraid to say it's already back in the box as the audio sync issues are too bad to put up with. Some channels seem almost perfect but then others are way out. I still have high hopes though.

The menu system is very good and the remote is perfectly responsive. Tuning the channels was very straightforward also This has the makings of a very good combo if Ferguson can come up with a software update to fix the audio problems. But until they do I am afraid I won't be using mine.

The audio synch drives me nuts too i really love the fact it reads the sky card even for the premium channels like Sky sports!

I will be taking mine on holiers to Spain in August to watch the last major golf chanpionship of the season on Sky sports :D

Its a handy feature alright but bear in mind that it most likely will not update the card subscription but I think a couple of weeks should be ok.

Bought one of these Combo Boxes off of Tony last week for the father, Have to say we both are extremely impressed with it and all its features. The lip sync issue is not as bad for me as others have posted with theirs. The Ariva Editor is the only way to go to set up the Channel List as its easier in my opinion. The Media player is a bonus MKV's play great on it and PVR functions are fine for me. So impressed with it I have cancelled my own S*y subscription in favour of buying one for myself. (From Satsklep) Would have gladly bought from Tony again but understandably he has frozen it from his site pending a new firmware upgrade.

All in all a quality purchase for the price. Cheers Tony! :D

Exactly for little more than my €67 per month subscription, You can buy a box with built in Media Player that gives you HD Channels! A better quality picture than what I had. Hard to see where ya can go wrong!!!

oh god Tony I was not criticising in any way - I just didn't have the time to set up the receiver and when I saw the posts about the sync issue I figured I'm as well leaving it where it is safely in it's box until it's sorted. Can't fault how you've responded to the problem at all and am genuinely very pleased and impressed with your customer service. The sync thing is not your fault and you've nothing at all to apologise for :)
