Hmm I find that interesting! I'd be up for 26pp. I always seem to reach that point every day and have 3 for a treat with my cuppa in the evening. So I have a couple of biscuits because I can for the sake of it. If I had to take it out of my weeklies I guess I would think twice. I have been losing very slowly mind you. But like that everyone is different so they have said if your comfortable with 29 then stick with it. I guess its what suits everyone as everyone is different...

Well this is my 14th week at weightwatchers. Had a loss every week apart from one week where I was up 1lb after a long weekend away and letting myself loose. I had never exercised until this week i started walking. I was 1lb off getting my second stone today, but at weigh in i was up .5!! I didnt eat anymore than i have any other week, all i did differently was exercise!! Has this happened to anyone else?
Well done to everyone on the great losses!!

Well done on the loss every week... thats fantastic! It could be muscle which is what people are telling me.. Im back at it 5 weeks now and i have only lost 5 pound! Its the first time though that i have not put up in 5 weeks but i still feel its very very slow to come off! I have been jogging up to 3 times a week and i have been eating very well and not eating all of my weeklys every week! My OH thinks i should maybe stop jogging for this week and see if it makes a difference? What do people think? Im going to the states next week for two weeks so i would like a nice loss to set me on my way because i dont wont to feel defeated going away because i know i wont be careful then over the two weeks :confused:

Hi Just started yesterday! how do i work the activity points? i did 50 sit ups this morning and went for 20minute walk last night so do i count that and what does it mean to have activity points?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1 Its_me2011!

****LOOKING FOR MOTIVATION **** I have been back and forth with WW for around 4 years now..I have got to the point where I have lost 2 stone but literally been going up and down for a year.Last Christmas I swore I would not weigh in any less than 2 stone lighter this year and here I am again most likely weighing in at the exact same weight.....I want to loose weight, I go to meetings every week but I just cannot pass this barrier ............ Is there anyone else out there with similar stories or have found a way forward !!!??

Did you get the books and the start up pack when you joined? There is a couple of pages at the back of one of the booklets that outlines activity points and lets you know for your height/weight and type of activity you do and at what intensity level how many pp you can 'earn' to use for extra food etc. It's like a table/graph.

I'm not sure if you would earn any for sit ups and depending on the intensity of the 20 mon walk it may only be 1 or 2 I don't have the book to hand but I know alot of people from talking to them generally don't use any of their activity points for better results or have them as a back up if there going out etc. TBH it takes a good bit of exercise to build up pp you will see that on the table when you look at it. Everyone is different though so reading it you will know best for you! Good luck with it!

Thats still really good loosing a pound a week, the slower it comes off the slower it goes back on. You'll get on fine in the states, all the walking you'll do will balance off the eating!! I was also thinking of giving up the exercise again for this week, i know its great for toning up but muscle does weigh more than fat and i really wanna get my second stone this week.

Ye thats what i was thinking! the last time i was in NY i walked the legs off myself so thats good... plus i looked at some menus online and at lot of them have low cal/low carb options.... its just whether ill resist the fattening tasty food
I said it to my sister tonight about not exercising and she was saying she thinks i should stick with the exercise because at some point it will defo show and i can feel it in my clothes but its just a let down when you step on the scales and it doesnt show

Hi everyone.Im new to this forum and really need some advice tips etc.Im 36 years old am 5 foot 4 inch s and weigh 14 stone 8 pounds .My weight really really gets me down.It affects my life hugely on a daily basis from a confidence level to deciding what to wear .I've lost count of how many times I've joined weight watcher s only to give up after a few days.I don't really know why maybe its because i feel so overwhelmed by the amount of weight i need to lose and can't imagine myself ever bein slim .I suppose i also feel like I've such a long journey ahead of me.On the outside everyone thinks im such a bubbly and happy person but inside im desperately unhappy with how i look.I know how the pro points works and could nearly tell you the points of. everything but i just need to put into practise what i know.So as of this mornin im making a new fresh start because I've been awake most of the night upset and crying because my weight is really gettin to me.Im really hoping that you guys out there who know s what its like to be overweight can give me encouragement and any advice and tips would be so appreciated in relation to food exercise or self esteem .Thanks for takin the time to read this and hoping hear from you all. Will keep my progress posted.

its great that your taking the first step to losing weight but dont look at it as i have x ammount of weight to get to my goal (if i knew i had 9 stone i would never have started on this journey) set yourself small goal. set a goal for this week a goal for christmas and forget about the rest. i'm nearly down 4st since january (planing to get their by chrsitmas) but i never looked past the next silver seven.

as for losing motivation after a few days because you feel that one pound this week wont mmake much differance to the overall picture just remember that all those one pounds a week add up one pound a week for a year is 52 pounds (more than 3.5 stone) give yourself a realsitic goal for the moment (like i promise myself that ill stick to ww for four weeks)

also for motivation find what works for you some people put pictuares that they hate of themselves near food that you love or if you have control of the shopping dont buy sweets for the house. what i find really works is putting paper clips of how many pounds i wnat to lose between now and my next goal in my purse and every pound i lose i clip one of the paper clips to my press. everytime i thibk of buying treat food i see the paper clips and they each represent a pound that i will lose so it helps my motivation not to go off plan.

good luck with it this week give yourself a good go at it and remember
what you eat in secret you wear in public
and if you put it in your smacker put it on your tracker

    Hi guys

I've just weighed myself for the first time in a year and I've put on 2 stone :(
I exercise regularly but I am a hugely emotional eater and I've had a ridiculously awful year.

Anyway....I'm fed up of not being able to fit into nice clothes so I'm starting weight watchers tomorrow. It's probably too late for Christmas party outfits but I'm going to New York in Feb so it would be nice to be one size smaller for then. My birthday is n March, so I want to feel great then as well....and then I want the whole two stone gone by next summer. I'm feeling really positive now after writing this.

i've done WW about 5 times before and I'm pretty good at it when I put my mind to it. Haven't done the propoints system yet though. Looking forward to learning something new. Hope its not confusing.....glad I can come on here though if I need help! :)

I joined Weight Watchers 2 weeks ago on Tuesday and I have to say, I'm loving it! I found that it's so easy to actually eat throughout the day and I love that fruit and veg are 0 points!! I lost 8 pounds in the first week (Don't worry, I was actually eating even though you probably think I starved myself!!!) But I know I haven't lost that much again this week obviously!!!

The only thing I find difficult is trying to calculate points for some meals. Like my mom made beef bourgingon (dunno how to spell it) :P and I had no idea how to figure it out!! Anyone have any tips for that? My uncle also made homemade pizza but I figured it wouldn't be as many points as a frozen pizza cuz it's all natural... help!

Don't be too hard on yourself. At least you have realised that you need to do something about it. It won't be long until you have it off and summer is definitely doable :)

Well done on the great loss. A big loss is common for the 1st week but it'll even out from here on so expect 1-2 lbs a week. Beware that even though fruit is 0 pps, it should still only be eaten in moderation. Keep to you 5 portions a day :) As for the meals, you should ask them what they used to make them. If the bourgingon was made with full fat cream etc then if could be high. If you love at home maybe help your mum cook dinners so that way you'll have more control over the recipes. If you can find out the exact recipe then point each ingredient separately. Good luck with the weight loss :)

good for you.im in same position as you.big time emotional eater and sometimes just because im bored.I've had a rough two years after becoming a single parent and then ended up sick and having to have surgery.maybe we could encourage each other and post our weight loss to each other every week.like you im fed up not bein able to wear what i want and stressed with Christmas approaching and tryin to find somethin to wear.ihave a break away in march so hoping to have two stone gone by then .best of luck tomorrow.

I was in the States for four weeks over the summer and I lost half a stone at my first weigh in when I got back. I put back on two pounds the following week though! I wasn't following the plan at all in the states, did a lot of walking though so that was probably it. My leader said if you want you can add on 5-7 pp to your daily allowance and it's just like being on maintenance, you shouldn't put on much weight.

Just remember that at your weigh in when you arrive home it might not be a true weight loss, you might still be jet lagged and it might have an effect on your weight loss!

help required as the search function on my blackberry aint great....I had a little splurge on sat night, went over to my friends to watch a few dvds and she had gotten chips and chocolate!!!! I ended up having half a large chipper chips and 12squares of dairy milk, just wondering what the pp 4them would be, I think a dairy milk is 7 for the 8square bar?is that right or am I way off?? Had only used 5weeklies up to then and only used 2yesterday so I'm not too worried about being waaaay over budget!!

Problem solved, looked it up when i came home....dairy milk is 1pp per square and i feel awful now after the chips...apparently 100g is 7pp and from what i can tell online an average bag is approx 400g....thats 28pp......dnt think i had that much tho, maby only like 300g....so thats 21pp roughly.....OMG, wil sooo think again befor i tuck into a few!!! Still within weeklies but im just thinkin what i could have had insted 4 those pp!!! Sinful!!!!!

Down 2.5 this week bringing me under 18 stone! Very happy, have been stuck on 18.1 for the past few weeks.

Followed the simply filling programme this week and it was harder than the pro points plan but obviously it was worth it!!!

Ughhh I was up one this week!! Kind of expected it though as I was out at the weekend with the family! My daughter was 15 and well, I stopped tracking on Saturday... Cake, Chinese and drinks.. Then I caught the tail end of my husbands man flu which left me with blocked sinuses. Was dizzy and faint all day yesterday so was taking sudofed!! Paracetamol products = retained fluid:( anyway still half pound under my goal so jeez I'd better track more and lose more this week..Anniversary weekend away Friday so I've got to be good.. Don't want it all to be for nothing..

I'd love to be down tomorrow but it's not looking too likely considering the erratic eating weekend I had. I know I didn't exceed my points but I really wasn't very good at keeping myself from getting really hungry. Good thing I don't get brought on desperately romantic getaways every weekend!

    Oh well, next week.

Hi all, im new to boards but have been reading through the thread and it looks fantastic.
I am going through a really tough time at the minute as my weight is really really getting me down. I have about 5/6 stone to lose. I joined ww numerous times over the years only to give up after week 2 or 3. I feel like i have such a long road ahead and i dont know if ill ever be able to do it. I was thinking i could just do it myself and go for walks but realistically i know it wont happen. I have loads of weddings to go to next summer and i would be miserable going as i am.
Im seriously considering rejoining ww but i worry that it will be the same story again. I have a real addiction to food and im already wondering how ill be able to get over that.
Just wondering if anyone here felt like that before they joined or had alot to lose and how they dealt with it. It feels like a very difficult task!

    Thanks so much :)

    Hi all,
I am struggling with the pro-points, have only lost 2lb in 5 weeks and am disappointed, but will do my best to stick at it and hopefully it will work.

I am wondering if someone can tell me if there are any PP in parsnips as someone told me they are fairly starchy?

Can anyone recommend good bathroom scales? I had a Salter one but its broken. It weighs different every time so preferably one that's not Salter. Thanks :)

Hi Fifi, welcome to the thread.. I think you've taken the first step on your journey by logging on here... There's a wealth of tips, recipes and lots of support from people on here..and we are all in the same boat.. I recommend that you approach this one pound at a time.. I love the meetings, the banter between everyone, the invaluable advice and support from the leader, and hearing what people get up to, the good and the bad, it's a great spur to carry on every week knowing that if you have a bad moment you can just pick up and carry on.. This is my third attempt with ww... Twice I just gave up after losing a few pounds.. This time however I got to goal.. I knew I could do it but with the pro points it just seemed so much more flexible, like it wasn't a diet just a series of healthy choices and decisions.. Anyway whatever you choose to do, don't look at it like " I've 5-6 stone to lose". To me you're already thinking its going to be impossible, but it's not.. A few pounds here and there all add up.. Set mini goals, and take it from there... Good luck...

Thanks so much Hi well done on facing your problem.Im in same boat as you.Ive lost count of the amount of times ive joined and failed but this time im determined to do it.Ive about 4 to 5 stone to lose but as some one on this thread said to me take it small steps and set yourself little goals at a time. This thread will keep you motivated and make you realise your not the only one struggling with weight .For a treat i freeze the chocolate aero mousse and they are to die for.Just like chocolate icecream and they last for ages compared to eating them out of the fridge and each individual pot works out at only3pp..yummy

Hm, I always found my Salter Digital Scales excellent. Is yours analog or digital? If it's a digital one try changing the batteries. There are also WW branded ones you can get. Argos is a good place to look from my experience.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be STS today, but I measured myself this morning and my waist is 30.5". My hips have also lost another half inch, as has my chest, much to my husband's dismay. :P

    So yes, I'm feeling good!

Down 1 this morn, happy days!! Myself and my mum are doing it together and as I stil live @ home we eat pretty much most of the same foods and we're losing weight pretty much on a par with each other. We started out with exactly 2st difference between us(my mums much taller than me) and 7weeks on there is still exactly 2st between us!!!!!

Ah don't worry, you didn't come off too negative! It's just daunting for you to be starting off. We've all been there.. The amount of people in my class down 4,5,9, even 10 stone proves it works!!! I swear there's more gold members than non.. My salvation is the meetings, I cannot just weigh and go, I think that's a waste of money, I stay for all the extras you get and you end up laughing at some of the stories!! A lot of nodding goes on where we can all identify with each others bad habits..
