    Hey folks,
I've had this plugin installed on atv2 with xbmc for a while and it was working fine but now the rte player isn't working anymore. it loads up and can show you what programs are available but when you select them to play it fails.
    any ideas?

    Cheers,
    Eoin

Have you downloaded liamf's fork of the project?:

    https://github.com/liamf/VODieR

I dont really know what a fork is in this case. Is it like an update? would i have to download it and then install it instead of the original file?

The plugin creator isn't updating it anymore. Liamf took it over and his version is working. I'd recommend removing the plugin that isn't working and installing the one from the link I gave.

Is this broken?, just installed the liamf version but only An Lar and the radio channels are working?

Was using it yesterday evening watching something on the RTE Player. Have heard nothing about it being broken on the XBMC forums either.

Working perfect for me too, I did a fresh install using Eden last weekend and installed this plugin at the time. I was watching Dragons den using it the other night no problem at all.

Did you install another standard video plugin to get the dependencies as per recommendation?

Got it sorted, what was happening was the uninstall of the older version wasnt cleanly removing in XBMC. Manually copied over the files and deleted the backups in XBMC and all is fine. All that isnt working is the TG4 listings (but live is in Aer TV) which the old man wanted but the rest is all good :)

Was wondering what had happened to this.

So, to uninstall the existing version, I just need to remove plugin.video.vodie the following (Ubuntu):

    $HOME/.xbmc/addons/
    $HOME/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data

And then re-install using the zip file from liamf?

    Yep, that'll do it.

I wonder is Setanta catchup plugin possible? Only works for Eircom broadband customers unfortunately but they've got some good stuff like all the F1 races.

Anybody having trouble with the plugin? I'm trying to watch Emmerdale on TV3 and it's been giving me a script error since yesterday evening.

@armitage_shanks, no idea, and (thank God) I am no longer an eircom customer so I have no way to check.

If someone who is still on legacy poorly mainted slow and expensive DSL broadband wants to fork the github repos and fix it, be my guest. And a pull request when you're done :-)

@Lucca Sour Stairwell I guess it was getting near time that TV3 made some pointless change to their website and broke the plugin again.

I will take a look later on

Tried it on my Win7 test machine.
    Working fine.
So ... over to you ...

You're right. But I swear to God it wasn't working the other night. Sorry if I wasted your time.

is Rte 2 hd showing up as Rte 1 for anyone else ?

Do you mean in the AerTV section? The only place I can get RTE 2 HD is the Live area of the RTE section.

Anyone using this plugin with raspbmc? Liam's fork installs OK, but video playback is brutally slow (as in 1 frame in every 5-10 secs). Is the plugin doing software decoding or something CPU intensive that the RaspberryPi can't handle? I had (in an "ignorance is bliss" kind of way) that a stream that works with iOS (MP4) would work with the RaspberryPi (which can use GPU to decode it), and the iPlayer / 4oD plugins work flawlessly on the Pi. So, is the painful playback down to Irish TV stream formats, or down to the plugin?

I can see the code to pass off the URL to XBMC to play, but I can't see what that URL is, so I don't spot anything obvious. Any pointers (or a definitive "forget about it"!)?

I haven't tried my raspmc yet, but since the RPi will only GPU decode H.264 this might be the issue ...

Yup, seems the obvious answer. However, it works on iOS so I was hopeful the plugin could use that h264 stream instead. I'll look at the format being streamed, when I next get a chance, thanks.

Anyone having any problems with AerTV of VODie? Every live channel fails! :(

Anyone having any problems with AerTV of VODie? Every live channel fails! :(

I got a report that it was no longer working alright.

I don't have much time to look into it just at present so it might take a little while for me to find the time to try to fix it ...

    Hey,

    Is the service still active.

Did anyone ever get it to work on RaspBMC? It installs ok but I just get a script error when I try to run it.

    Thanks

Or is there any other alternative for RTE etc. on RaspBMC?

    Thanks

    Thanks

The other alternative is IrishTV Player plugin from Mossy. It is in Mossy's repository, google to find the repository and then install it the normal way.

Somebody got it working recently enough, but a week or two ago it seemed to stop working again.

as I Kill You Scum! said, Mossy's irishtv works well, rte player and all.
