Thought it was a pretty interesting season, but the finale was a major misfire in my opinion, very unsatisfying.

I'm very disappointed with this season of AHS, for me it hasn't been anywhere as good as previous seasons. I thought it might be promising after watching the first few episodes, but then the whole reality tv show thing was introduced. Maybe it has grated on me because I don't like reality tv anyway, and I'm not a fan of Cuba Gooding Jr. but it just seems all over the place, taking ideas from other movies etc.
Kathy Bates accent as The Butcher is so irritating, and Audrey is irritating as hell with her constant wailing. Bad as I find it I've stuck with it, and still have the finale to watch. I think I just might be done with AHS now :(

Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson's character from asylum) is going to interview Lee, sounds interesting.

Ah here, I thought it was just gone on a few years and she just aged terribly since the incident. Just goes to show how zoned out I was in the last few episodes that I forgot she was killed the week before. That was a good angle to it. I really like the twist half way through but it just went downhill from there, very over the top as it usually does.

It was a good season, probably my favorite after the first 2. It benefited from having only 10 episodes, reducing the amount of filler.

The storytelling of the past is my favorite part of these shows and there was lots of it in the 1st half of the season, however it kind of turned to torture porn for a few episodes and lost its way a bit for me.

I enjoyed the first part of the season, the recreation. The second part went rapidly downhill for me, mainly because the characters were just awful people and severely unlikable.

I was the opposite in a way. I couldn't really get into the first half as the fact that characters were explaining how they survived the house meant there was no suspense and the scenes you saw from the house were recreations. I found the mid-season twist to be an interesting way to address that, having built up the legend by then, and loved the episode they brought the idea for the second series together. Really clever. It did become a bit torture porn from there, which I normally hate, but the "there was only one survivor" reveal kept you guessing and it was all so frantic and quick-paced there was no time to be bored or focus on plot holes (which I'm sure people still found anyway but I didn't care to look while being entertained). The finale was all over the place, but meh that tends to be the case with AHS in general so I expect it now. One thing I did hate was how the last scene just completely took away from "every scene in this is real and recorded somehow as it happened" aspect they'd based the series around. But whatever, a return to form on the whole for me.

Not only does this seem to be a very bizarre focus for a horror show (despite Hillary vs Trump being a horror show in its own way), but isn't it highly unusual for the theme to be revealed this early in the year? I suspect this to be FAKE NEWS and a direct result of the DISHONEST MEDIA! BAD! :pac:

I started off enjoying season 6 and was a huge improvement over the crap season 5. But the last 2 episodes of Roanoke were just filler. No need for them at all. Could of wrapped it up with an extended episode 8. Too many shows within a show.

I know it is a matter of opinion, but do people find American Horror Story scary? Is it just sex and grotesque imagery or is it proper creepy that while make you check behind the couch?

I saw the first episode of Murder House when it originally came out and didn't take to it, but I'm considering giving it another go on Netflix.

Also, is each season truly independent or do they all need to be watched in the correct order?

Best to watch it in order as even though the storylines and characters are different in each season, they have a unique habit of resurrecting a character from a different season & integrating them into one of the newer seasons.

I watched it on Netflix, then skipped to the new season, still have Roanoke to watch which was just added to Netflix.

They are fairly independent, but not entirely independent.

Good timing to see this here...I have heard mixed reviews from people about this show. I like the sound of it and watched 1st episode at the weekend.
I found it all a bit weird and I liked a lot of it but bits made no sense. Is it worth sticking with? Does it get better as seasons go on or should I not waste my time.
I loved Stranger Things, Hannibal, Bates Motel etc, not sure whether this is worth a go.

Not really enjoying this new season so far but I wasn't expecting much - only really watching out of habit at this point. The absence of any likeable characters doesn't help.

I like to save horror movies and TV shows for October and November. I tend to have too many shows though and don't get to watch horror movies so I decided to leave American Horror Story until a later time and started watching Hemlock Grove instead. I'm three episodes in and have decided I'll start American Horror Story instead.

Only one episode left and this is easily the best season yet.

Really different in tone from the others seasons and it is working.

Agreed, I’ve enjoyed it a lot, especially performances from Adina Porter and Evan Peters (despite his loathsome character), and Sarah Paulson is as solid as ever, with a great Scream Queens-esque guest appearance from Emma Roberts. It’s a shame SQ didn’t go for one more season, I loved the two seasons they made, its great to have Billie Lourd in Cult but her character is underused here, I miss her depiction of Chanel #3. It took me a while to appreciate this season, especially with it’s close connection to reality and current news events, and its complete lack of fantasy/supernatural elements this time (except for Twisty’s appearance, and I haven’t seen ep 10 yet so no spoilers please in case ;)). I like TV fiction to be just that and this season didn’t have quite enough escapism that I was hoping for, with all the Trump references and post-election fears etc, but I overcame that and enjoyed the madness. :)

Oh and the episode with Lena Dunham as Valerie Solanas was an absolute stand-out, she was incredible! :)

Jaysus, I think it's been awful.

    Absolute mess of a season.
