Wow, this could get a lot worse very quickly.

Had contact with my brother, he's safe and well. Thank God and God love those people.

Been following it all morning on Sky news.
Terrible event. Seeing people getting washed away is sobering to say the least. Hope it slows down before it hits anywhere else especially Hawaii.

    Why especially Hawaii?

Update 2: Japan has declared a nuclear emergency.
Update: There's no evidence of any radioactive leakage, but officials have confirmed that the cooling process for the nuclear plant has not yet gone according to plan.

Check whats trending and then just click one of the trends and it will open up what people are tweeting about it. Some of the tweets will be rubbish but some will be very informing
"Twitterfall" is quite good, but I have no idea how to seperate the chaff from the grain. There are hundreds per minute on #tsunami - 99.9% just people saying "OMG theres a tsunami alert" etc.

2012, its starting with all the earthquakes in asia....

Hope everyone around the pacific are safe, remember items can be replaced, life cant so hope they just be safe and get somewere on high ground

Sigh...was wondering how long the 2012 crap took.

Earthquakes like this happen at sea all the time. Just rarely hit inland.

Hope Japan can handle this with all their preparations.

    Ha!

Even in a panic situation they queue quietly and orderly. God speed Japan.

According to the BBC everything is still orderly in Tokyo and people are still queueing at pedestrian crossings depite the traffic being at a standstill. Gotta love them.

It's shocking that the Media are already discussing what effect the tsumami has had on the global price of oil and what effect it has had on the stock markets rather than the lives/livlihoods/homes/infrastructure destroyed. It was the same with the NZ 'quake, how many billions of dollars damage it caused and very little about the emotional/personal devastation to "people":(

Well the skyrocketing price of oil can cause problems elsewhere. Like in Haiti they ate mud when oil hit highs in 2007/2008.

That's their job. Why do you think they're doing it, just to be pricks? It doesn't take away from the tragedy. People care about oil prices, and people care about how much the damage costs because that affects the economy, as does oil prices. So the media report it.

It has had the opposite effect, oil prices have fallen sharply this morning as a result.

Japan now issue a nuclear emergency :(

We can clear up debris and buildings , but fook can we clear up radioactive material that can take 100's of years to be safe enough to return to certain areas , never mind the devastation that a radioactive cloud could bring for generations to come .

Sweet Devine Jesus I hope this does not end up where it could .
