Why did you just stop at asian? Why not German/French/American etc?

I'm all for buying Irish products when I can, but it's a free market and I've yet to see sake being made in Ireland. And I love a little bit with my sushi!

You shouldn't be drinking sake in the first place. It's not traditional irish.

And before you try and point out that a lot of things we see today as "irish" came from other countries, It doesn't matter. Before the 18th century it was perfectly ok to enjoy things from other cultures. Harps, accordions, beer, cider, brandy, farming, ploughs, our indo-european language etc. all got in before the cut off point (before irishness was properly definied on an international level) and so were allowed to be absorbed and over time become "traditional irish". Things which did not get in before the cutoff point can never become "traditional irish" for all infinity. It's a matter of national pride.

You know we do export a lot of stuff from Ireland don't you?

the more you buy asian produce the more jobs we lose simple.
You'd best not buy any more electronics considering the majority of electronics components are made in Asia. No more clothes either. Ah well, I guess we'll have to make do with our many huge indigenous electronics companies.
ban or lock this mods if ye must but the truth should be made available to all
Thank you for the economics lecture. We're all convinced.

    Way ahead of you OP.

I was worried about the bang of communism off my Asian purchases last week so I took them out the back garden and destroyed them with napalm.

All of the above is just the way you see things - I don't understand why other people should just comply with it just because you say they should...

Buy local and avoid shops like Tesco. Tesco drains profits and jobs from the country. Not just Tesco but similar types of shops.

As it happens I wrote a poem about this today:

Your Tiger prowls with a hunger
Like the juice that fuels your soul
    Spicy, Spicy, hot, hot

No mother, I won't have stew
Number 17a with extra mushrooms please
What's that father? You can't get work?
To the factory with you, I'm busy with my CD Player

Oh but brother why must you leave?
We have so much goodness left to enjoy.

So OP, you lost your job because it was outsourced to the Philippines? I'm guessing it's a call center job and I'm fuking glad you lost it.
I've gotten friendly with a few people who do that work here and none of them would have the retarded spite in them that you have.. "Let's boycott Asia".
Hurts my head lookin at this crap and I hope I meet the person who gets your old job before I leave.

You only had the job for 9 weeks, man the fuk up and stop starting stupid threads.

Not much support for your pan-Asian boycott there, OP. Hate to break it to you, but Asia will probably get over your one man boycott in due course.

Don't worry, once China get richer than us they will be outsourcing their crappy jobs to us. We will be working in the German owned factories placed here in Ireland for our cheaper work costs.

The only big question is which language to try and learn to climb the social ladder, german or chinese.

I for one totally agree with the OP. We should all make it in our best interest to destroy anything in Ireland that was made in Asia. You go first though.

How about combining it, outlets like Tesco do employ many Irish people after all. I still get meat & bread in small local shops.

OP, the shops selling those Asian products employ taxpaying people here too, do you suggest we live off cabbage & rashers?

Today I bought 6 flame torches made of bamboo. 10 hawiian flower lais, 1 bottle Of kerosene, 2 hawiian shirts and couple of more bits for NZ$70. That is a little over €35. All got from the local Asian cheap goods store.
They can keep on making and selling the stuff to me.
Cheap labour, cheap prices, less expense for me

Why? Ireland has been a ripoff and overvalued for years. If a foreign product is of the same quality and is cheaper than an irish product, i'm buying the foreign product and so will 99.9% of people, its simple economics.

Ireland simply cant compete and wont ever be able to compete in the manufacturing industry again because of lower wages in other countries.

Its time to get out of the manufacturing industry and move Irish people into industries where we as a country can create a niche, specialise in and compete sucessfully in, areas like R&D, education, etc. We have a very highly educated workforce who demand high wages, do we want to put them on assembly lines?

R&D and manufacturing go hand in hand, it's not good to separate them. You can demand as much money as you want, but if you can't get a job what's the point?

I hate all the out of touch privileged d4 kids with their "love your neighbour" "share the wealth around the world" attitudes.

Sure, the countries we outsource jobs to "need" the money more than us. Who cares? It's a dog eat dog world out there. Us Irish need to look out for ourselves. If the all the wealth in the world was spread out evenly we'd have....well we'd have less than we do now .

We'll not be having any of your Irish national debt, off with ya now!

They're virtually indestinguishable so it shouldn't really matter.
