This is going to sound mad... but Bailey has gotten very....lovey over the last month or two.. And if I take him to the vet with this list she'll think I'm mad lol!!

He will now sleep on the bed beside Lucy (sometimes for a few hours sometimes all night) .. The other week he cried on 3 different occasions for us to tell him he could sit beside her on the couch - but this was after she hurt her eye so maybe he knew she was in pain?

Sometimes he'll just come and sit on the couch beside us but other times he stands crying until you give him permission to come up..

When he's sitting next to my mum he often has his paws touching her feet now - before if you touched off his feet or tail he'd jump up almost hitting the ceiling with a fright and move. The same when he's lying up on the bed - definitely not as jumpy if you move like he was before..

Most evenings if he's not sitting beside us he sits on his vet bed and keeps lifting his paw/crying up until you sit on the floor and pet him for ages until he eventually he falls asleep...

He licked me the other day - he NEVER licks me (but licks everyone else outside the house :p)

He seems fine in himself and he just had his thyroid bloods done a couple of weeks ago which came back fine too so I'm baffled lol!! Jaw is all good - the stitches have all made their way out at this stage like the vet said they would before xmas

tk123 I noticed that one of our cats got very affectionate after vet trips. He only arrived about 18 months ago and wasn't really into being petted or anything like that. After a few vet trips over the last 6 months he seemed to want more fuss and attention. I don't really know how to explain it other than that it seemed to strengthen his bond with us and he trusted us more.

Now he wants to be in the living room with us and sleeps on our bed most nights. He's purring a lot, which he didn't do much and after his last vet trip he brought home a mouse, which was a first for him as he doesn't do that.

Ah you know what I'd forgotten they tried to take him in and do the bloods without me but he freaked out so we did it the normal way of him hiding with his face against me hiding  And he would have had his 3 month checkup a few weeks before that! Maybe all the vet visits have made him appreciate his comforts lol!! Poor BB - leave him in and they break his leg 2 years in a row.. then he gets a tooth out and his lip sewed to his gum, then they take him in again and shave his tummy and take some bone away and THEN they take away 1/4 of his jaw. No wonder he's not happy about me leaving him with the nurses!

Edit - see?? They're up to something! He never used to let her so close and he's the on who cuddled into her.... Also note the lack of leg room o

Maybe he is just HAPPY with his lot. He is used to his new pal, shes calmed down and is not a puppy any more. He is relaxing and settling down and maturing and loving his lot??? :)

Found a little lump on Benson :-(
Hopefully it'll be a benign growth like the last one. We're booked in to the vets for 2pm so fingers crossed for him.

Today is alli's first gotcha day :) can't belive we have her a whole year today! The time flew by! She's come so far from the skinny, pretending to be shy puppy we met this day last year. She had a bit of her thunder stolen as my brothers baby was born this morning, celebrations all round :)

Watching changing behaviour from my JRT Bassett cross. I have had the two dogs together 8 years and she has always been top dog over collie. They have never eg slept together and when collie begs her to play she never takes any notice.Collie stands behind her yipping and pleading to no avail. Now collie is blind and slowing down and suddenly wee dog wants to be with her all the time. Or maybe thinks collie is getting too much attention and is moody at that. So I am playing with wee dog more and more and she is delighted... throwing balls etc

So...lump is hopefully nothing. It was so small it was hard to get a sample from it, but it's dermal and not attached to anything so vet is confident it's not anything ..yet. So monitor and back for a check up in a month or two to see if it has grown or regressed. If he has to go in meantime for anything under anaesthetic they'll whip it off at the same time but they don't think at the moment it's worth putting him under to remove it at the moment. She said if it was a golden retriever or any dog with a double coat, there's no way I would have found it.

He knows when he is safe! I had to take wee dog to the vet and leave her for treatment.. my dogs are not socialised as I live alone and am rarely out and rarely see folk up here. I heard the wails starting as I got back to the car but a lady assured me she would be fine. Got back at the stated time to find the young vet practically wringing his hands.. " She is terrified!" Needless to say she trotted straight to me wagging her tail and was great then as we paid etc. Yes it is trust,

I've posted before about the moth problem in our house... (GAH!!) Anyways unfortunately for Bailey his fabric crate had to go in the bin when we found a good few cocoons/worms in the crevices of it :( It was too big so I'd been thinking of binning it for ages and getting a new one and have had one in my wish list on amazon for ages... until I just discovered I can get a play tent with the same dimensions for half the price lol!!! decisions decisions! :pac:

Defrosting freezer here in the kitchen, Elly's delighted as it means she can steal the ice!!

She's back to the vet tomorrow for a free health check, the letter said she can have one as she's now an adolescent!
Looking forward to going, this was where we got her from after she strayed into them and was never claimed. Think they'll notice a difference!

Cream has spent the last two days staring at me non stop. Like really really intently staring at me, and it's freaking me out cos I've a pain in my stomach the past week. It's reminding me of when he was demented at me when my appendix was bad! what's he sensing this time?!?

A while back I found my incredibly expensive and fabulous CASHMERE cardigan had been eaten by moths. Bloody things ignored all my other rubbish and went for the quality  The company who made it kindly sent me some wool to patch it up, so my mother (darning queen!) got down to darning dozens of little holes :( so at least I can wear it for 'every day'. Ive added moths to my list of creatures I may kill (along with woodlice and earwigs - shudder!! - apologies to the folk on here who are bothered by my bloodlust!)

I went to Enniskillen to meet up with some friends today, and popped into Lidl just in case they had the exercise peanut I've been looking for. One in the whole store, in an opened box, but I don't care, I got one, will pump it up tomorrow and see how big it is, and which dogs will fit on it. £5.99 as opposed to the £70/£80 for a dog one. :D

They have us driven MAD!! We have the zapper fly swats from the €1.49 shop and kill them on sight but atm there's practically none flying around but loads of the worms. I think because we have wooden floors they're more visible but it just takes one thing - a runner, sock etc that's found it's way under the bed and they're all over it. I even had some big thick IT books that had some of them around the edges...which suited me fine to throw out because I didn't fancy studying for the exam lol!! :pac::pac:

Lol. Picture a giant blow up peanut on its side, with a dog standing on top of it, balancing.

I'm really interested in conditioning work with the dogs, I figure that a human runner doesn't just run for fitness, they do exercises as well for core strength, so why should dogs be different? As long as my lot get their treats, they'll do anything, some better than others :p I haven't managed to get any of them to do a handstand against a wall yet, but we're working on it

Well Elly got a clean bill of health from the vet, he said she had a beautiful coat!

He said she's probably fully grown, would this be right? We reckon she's about 8-9months old.

I also raised a concern about getting her spayed, I was a bit nervous that she might pull any stitches because she's so hyper and bouncy. He said not to worry, would this be right?

It wasn't my normal vet, so I'm not as confident with his replies.

I also found out that she gets car sick!!

Well Lucy wasn't interested in the stitches at all. I just put a t-shirt on her - it kept the wound covered but at the same time wasn't tight and let the air at it.

Is Lucy bouncy? Its more that elly has to jump on, up or over everything at the minute!!

She can be if she wants a game with Bailey but no - she's generally very chilled out and relaxed. I was all set to get keyhole spay for Lucy which is supposed to be less traumatic on the dog and work for the owner... but after all the drama with Bailey's jaw and operations in UCD (which is in fairness is only 30-40 mins away) I just didn't feel right about going to a different vet that we'd never been to before when ours is 2 mins around the corner.

Lucky you!! Elly's a typical collie!! I'm really torn between getting her spayed in Feb when I have a week off, or waiting a bit longer for her to calm down a bit more.

Toby brought us a live mouse in the early hours:eek: He brought us one last month, really hoping it's not going to become a regular thing, I'm terrified of them.

I can totally agree with you there, the vet I took her to this morning is the one where we got her from, they did her vaccinations there. But I feel more confident about the vet we see with Tara, so I think I'll move elly to the same vets.

Is the keyhole spay more expensive?

I think it's about €100 more expensive but not sure? Lucy's was something like €250 for spay and X-ray of her hips and knees
