Got this email from DHL Germany

    Dear customer,

    thank you for your request.

After the shipment has left Germany, local Post of Ireland is responsible for delivery and data transmission, not DHL.

The parcel left Germany on 26.02.2011 going to Ireland.
General running time for your parcel is 3 business days.

Due to increased security measures in Europe, there is currently significant delays.

In case your parcel does not arrive at the recipient until 04.03.2011 please contact the sender and request an investigation.

Im intrigued to know what security measures they are talking about.

Sorry about this stupid question but do hardwareversand put everything together for you?

    Thanks.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,185 ✭✭✭IrishMetalhead

Yea they offer a full assembly service for €20 apart from large graphic cards, large heatsinks (which you have to fit yourself) or any os installation (os and drvier installation service costs€35 on hwvs)
Probably better off looking for someone local to put it together if not then pay hwvs to do it for you.

thanks for that dwighet but im just wondering somthing

if you look at my pics, there's a fan over the cpu already

mate that fan has to come off and then you must clean the cpu and install your new cooler

look for 4 plastic pins/clips that hold the stock cooler inplace and release them. Then you will see a small steel clamp that holds the cpu inplace...release that. and carefully remome the stock cooler and the cpu will come off as well as the cooler.. Then seperate the cpu from the cooler carefully.... clean the original heat paste off the cpu and renistall it(carefully) then clamp it down and apply your new heat paste and cooler.....

If you get stuck pm me your mobile and I will try to talk you through it....its not hard...just take your time....

It's an AMD cooler it won't have the plastic pins on it it'll have that metal clip thing thats all you need to do to remove it because the A70 uses AMD's stock mouting bracket.
Just read the installation instructions that came with the A70 and you should be grand just remember that it should sucking cold air from the bottom =D

yup thats more or less how ya do it just don't forget you thermal paste ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 54,043 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

well im finished and here is some pics and a video

basically pics are asking is that alright for the cooler to be that high up, that close to the ram and that close to the back of the case?

Also is the cpu suppose to be absolutely stiff or can it shake?

Im worried about the Thermal compound in terms of did I use the right amount

  • Registered Users Posts: 54,043 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

    I forgot to add

The original fan used a 4 pin where as the a70 uses a three pin, since I cant find anymore 3 pins connections, it has to be the right one

basically there's only one 3 pin connector and iv used it for the A70

    edit also

do I have the fans on the right direction and on the fan in the back (near the case) there's arrows saying
    > \/ (right and and forward)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,185 ✭✭✭IrishMetalhead

don't worry you can plug a 3pin into the 4pin cpu header and there should be a adapater to join the two fans to one header aswell so you don't need any fan headers on your mobo and to make sure the fans are facing away just use a small piece of light paper to see what way the airflow is going

btw you only need a thin layer of thermal compound so don't worry about that too much

you must have it fired up by now and a cold beer in your hand....fair play...:)

Did you plug the power adapter from the psu into the motherboard? They didn't plug mine in either

    Something like this

There might be a powerswitch on the psu aswell, at the back of the case
