3 southside schoolgirls on Late Late Show young scientist slot last night.

I was born n'raised in Blackrock/Glenageary but the accent they spoke with is utterly foreign to me.

Add in their make up fetish and Orange County is a fairly apt description of them.

speaking as a bogger it is pronounced "Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"

    Ma and Da are disgusting

    Mom is American.

"Mom" is for wannabe yanks who were raised by their television.
Any other form mentioned here is acceptable.

I address her as Mum, and sometimes Mam. Think the latter comes from calling her Mammy when I was small. Don't know why it then changed to predominantly Mum rather than Mam.

    Mam.

Mawwwwm annoys me. Is it a fairly recent thing? I can't imagine too many people were calling their mother mom 20 years ago.

There weren't so many American programmes on the television.

I think in the Gaeltacht, the Irish for Mam sounds the same as Mom.
But that is NOT to be mistaken for Connemara people trying to pull off an OC accent.:D

That's original. You'd have more imagination if your childhood wasn't wasted in front of a television.
Same goes for the "pffft" response really.
Come on - try some snappy banter.
