Relatively heavy sleet in D16, pure wet stuff though everywhere is soaking.

was at Shannon Airport at 2130 and there was a covering of snow.....whipped back up the N18 and......stuff-all at home :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 117 ✭✭srocliffe

Still raining here and has been since this afternoon, but temperatures dropping rapidly the last couple of hours, so hoping for sleet / snow soon.

Dublin airport now temp +1 / dew point +1

Both these were +4 a few hours back.

The only worry is that the main heavy band is drying up on the radar, so temperatures may go negative just when the precipitation stops.

Yep not much happening in the way of snow, but it has been raining/sleeting since about 5pm. We get hammered up here from the Irish Sea so you can't win 'em all I suppose.

There may be a bit come morning but it will be minimal I'd say.

That two foot of snow in Dublin over the past number of weeks along with a temp of -15oC must have been in my dreams. :D

I mean really, did Dublin have to have snow tonight that would melt anyway in the morning.

I think not and there is more than a wee chance of colder air later Jan and into Feb or so the boardies here are saying so there will be other opportunities in the run up to March. Fear not my friend and let our compatriots down south enjoy their bit of snow.

Goddess - you merely rub salt into our wounds. It is only 1.1C here and still a very rainy sleet.

    No dusting of any sort.

Nice Heavy flurry of snow falling in blakestown d15 now but the ground is too saturated for it to stick except on grass

I thought your inland area would have got something?
No let down for me, I knew days ago that all I was going to see was rain.

I guess it remains now to be seen whether our event during the night turns out to be anything more than rain. Should know about 4am (needless to say I ain't waiting up for that)

There's a bit of sleety crap falling in Lucan the last while. Car windscreens have a bit of a buildup of watery solidy substance here. It's basically rain that's eaten too much over Christmas. Fat rain.

Snow already starting to melt. :(

Will it become cold enough in Dublin tonight for the water on the ground to freeze, does anyone know?

Certainly cold enough at the moment, -5.6C here, DP -7.1C.

I'd expect it to rise once the showers show up but surely they cant rise by that much as to make it fall as anything other than snow

Hopefully this rainwater will freeze overnight, then tomorrow we get the real snow! :D

Temp down to 0c and Dew Point 0c in Dublin 5 from the weather app on my iphone

  • Registered Users Posts: 766 ✭✭✭dubal

Had some marginal sleet earlier, but its really rain :(

    Still 2.4 with 91% humidity

    Regards
