Most people I spoke to on the extremely icy paths are pi**ed off with snow love

I can imagine. People are easily pi**ed these days. They forget sometimes we just have to embrace nature for a couple of days.

no,no I was just laughing at the fact that RTE were interviewing people in the north west & they went into a pub/shop & asked the shop owner was he concerned that their would be a food shortage as deliveries of food to shop we're been hampered due to bad weather,& one man seemed more worried about the shortage of beer rather food...:)

    Apologies - point taken!

Thanks for that. Will be travelling in a funeral limo with snow tyre cover thingys so unless the skies dump a load of snow overnight we will have to travel. Leaving here at 7.30am so plenty of time to travel slowly and carefully.

No, its becoming less and less likely that we will have any more snow.

Maybe for the next few weeks but the winter is early:)

The snow may be over now but the next week is not gonna be good. Snow melting slowly, very slippery conditions, slush turning to brown and black at the sides of the roads, some roads will become flooded etc etc.

It really depends where you are. I can only speak for Dublin as that is where I am right now but the roads are generally ok even tonight. I drove back from Dublin City Centre this evening to D6 and it was virtually perfect bar some dodgy back roads. The estates are still a complete disaster.

Come out of Dublin on the N7 this evening at 100km per hour. No issues on the main roads. Roll on the rest of the winter!

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,322 ✭✭✭sunbabe08

yikes, footpaths and roads are lethal here in cork. and if it does rain or snow, it's gonna be great fun tomorrow

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,910 ✭✭✭JanuarySnowstor

I'm amazed at how quick this cold spell has kinda dissolved.
I mean I appreciate it's still icy out there, but I would have thought Dublin would still be gridlocked. I think so did Met Eireann

I'll be heading east from limerick to wexford. weather permitting. I'm hoping it doesnt give me permission. :p

It really was an amazing sight to see the transformation in the main roads around Dublin today between 7am and 3pm. There is still huge build ups of snow at the kerbs but otherwise the main aerterial routes can be driven at something approaching normal steady speed. This morning they were still in awful shape.
