Oh yeah blame the kids, The alarm clock.... Anyway you sound way more relaxed and chilled out of late. Long may it continue!

Thanks K, I've been feeling so bad for so long I'm just thrilled to be feeling strong again and there's serious hope that I'll be back to my old self soon.

5.68 Miles ave hr 147 ave pace 9:07

I was told there'd be bad days, today was one of those. I'm feeling less of the symptoms of fatigue and am getting stronger but my body's having a rough time with all of the toxic ****e that's now flowing through the system, I'll run strictly by hr when I feel like this and push a little on the better days, aiming for 40 miles this week at least.

3.75 miles this morning ave hr 148 ave pace 8:45

Legs very heavy for this, it'll take a few days to shake off the cobwebs.

5.66 miles ave pace 8:41 ave hr 147

It was an identical route to last night but the hr tells the tale, 26 secs per mile faster for the same effort. I foresee a few doubles in the near future and I'm hoping the accumulated mileage helps me get back on track quicker rather than going out and trying to cram 40/50 miles into 3 or 4 runs.

Build it up slowly, no need to jump back up to 40/50 mile weeks. Work from where you are, not from where you want to be.

I am, that's why I'll be keeping the distance relatively short per run ie 4 in the morning and 6 in the evening rather than a 10 at once and only doing two doubles this week.

Yeah, recovery runs in the morning are nice, then you can go out in the evening and feel fresh.
I don't want to poke the nose in again, but I just meant don't rush back up with your total weekly mileage. I know you're watching your heart rate, and doing recovery runs, but even at that, more runs will tire you out. You seem to be on the road to recovery, so I'd hate to see you knocked back again by trying to run too far along that road too soon...

Gently, gently boss. Fixing thyself rightly will take time.

6.17 miles ave pace 8:28 ave hr 146

I'm feeling the lack of long mileage of late but I'm making ground, no immediate goal or timescale but I'd like to be back running 8 min miles off of 150 hr ASAP :)

12.74 miles ave hr 154 ave pace 8:35

It was very warm in the Park this morning which accounts for the elevated hr, met Jcsmum at 9:30 to see out her 21 mile+ run (she's a fcucking machine;)) We chatted away putting the world to rights and unraveling the mysteries of the universe and the miles flew by. I don't know how I feel about the half at the moment, logic would say not to race but I'm not good with common sense.

We followed the half route as much as possible and I'm wondering what pace I can sustain for the distance, I may head out at low 7 min pace for a few miles and default to hr for the rest of the race, I should get a reasonable result under the circumstances without redlining or exploding.

Total for the week: 33.99 Miles

I'd definitely not be racing by HR. I wouldn't even be looking at it tbh. My advice is to turn off the HR data field and run by feel. You should know what HM effort is supposed to feel like and HR data will only distract you and likely hold you back. You can always study it after the race...

That said you probably shouldn't be racing a HM anyway. It's unlikely you will get the result you are looking for or are capable of given the lay off and that will only serve to frustrate you I think. Why not just run along with us in the 1:40 group?

I considered that, I'm not racing for a goal I'm just going to do a long workout. If I go by feel I run the risk of setting my recovery back, I might start back a bit and catch you over the first few miles.

I think your mad going for sub 1:40. would run it at most 8 min pace.

By defaulting to hr I won't be racing, it will be a high effort run, I did the same in Mallow when I wasn't feeling well and struck a good balance between effort and not pushing too hard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,556 ✭✭✭chinguetti

Am i meant to be chrnqietti now?:p Get an injury and then a second injury how soon they forget you on here. Sigh:rolleyes:

Yes, i do think Mr S shouldn't be racing but as he claims he will be starting at the back (chinguetti style) and passing people out (also chinguetti style) and also running by hr, he has my stamp of approval.

In other news, as i'm now back running again, i must start posting on all yer logs again.

Heat heat go away, can't you see I'm trying to train :(

    10.49 miles ave hr153 ave pace 8:33 17C

Again an elevated hr but more to do with heat than effort, a good run overall on an undulating route. I feel strong and confident that if I keep plugging away as I am I'll return to fitness in another few weeks. Hopefully my strength will continue to build and I'll be in a position to start a training regime after pacing DCM.

I've pulled out of pacing DCM, was really looking forward to it but I'm going to build myself back up slowly without the pressure of having to do it in a short time frame.:o

Sorry to hear that, but in the current scheme of things might be the smart thing to due. Build on the good work you've done so far slowly.
