Just worked out how to view webpages in 3D in Firefox. :) Hold down Ctrl + Shift + I for the Inspector console and select the 3D cube on the right hand side.

    Should look like this:

    305397.JPG

I can't seem to click any links, so it seems to be a static rendering. Haven't tried any other pages yet.

It's for web devs to see what items are contained in what divs.

Sorry if this isn't the right thread but I didn't wanna make a new one, but how long do hardwareversand normally take to go from clearing the order for delivery to actually dispatching? Mine was cleared at like 4:42 this moring , should I expect it dispatched today?

Usually pretty quick about it , I would think It'll be done today , sometimes it takes 2 or 3 days though , I guess it depends on how busy they are.

Hey, am trying to diagnose an issue for friend. I don't have access to his computer right now, but will do later, so I'm looking for a few ideas to try out when I get there.

Here's the issue as explained by him. His screen was artefacting badly and his driver kept on crashing (happened while watching a vid). He reasoned his GPU was dead (something with which I tend to agree considering it was 6 plus years old).

So he swapped out a generic GPU from another desktop. Now here's where the issue popped up: he cannot get his Internet to work with his PC. According to him all he did was swap out the graphics card. The net work appears as unknown in the list I believe (instead of UPCxxxxx). The rest of the connections in his house work fine (various wireless devices, etc). He swapped ethernet cable and ruled that out. No dice.

I told him to run a netsh winsock reset in the start menu and it threw this error (paraphrased off the top of my head) 11003 dll failed to start.

Any tips as to addressing this? I am going to bring a wireless key to see if he can get Internet wirelessly, but I doubt this will work given the issue is with the network on site (on the desktop), so he'll receive the signal but won't know what to do with it.

The specs for Wolfenstein have been published on the Bethesda Blog, and they are heavy.
    Wolfenstein: The New Order Specs

    [May 02, 2014, 08:35 am ET] -
The Bethesda Blog offers a set of PC system requirements for Wolfenstein: The New Order, though these don't carry the expected label of minimum or recommended, though the seem to be the latter, as they say "These are the system requirements to deliver the PC game as it was intended to be experienced." Here's word on what it will take to run the upcoming alternate-history shooter:

    64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8
Intel Core i7 or equivalent AMD
    4 GB System RAM
    50 GB free HDD space
GeForce 460, ATI Radeon HD 6850
    High Speed Internet Connection
    Steam account and activation required

64-bit, an i7 and 50GB of space. Time to upgrade I think...

his mobo/cpu may have be starting to die if his gpu and wireless are both being screwy i would try a fresh install (os) if possible

try the gpu (and wifi card i assume) in another pc (one you dont care about preferably)

Hard to say really, the most likely things are either some kind of driver/resource conflict or possibly hardware damage.

To check for a driver conflict, he could look for the network card and the new GPU in device manager and see if they show anything odd, and also try booting a live linux cd to see if it works there.

It's also possible he damaged either the network chip on the motherboard or possibly the connector while replacing the GPU. Does he get both link and activity lights with a network cable plugged in.

I doubt the CPU has started dying, those chips are hardy. Motherboard, possibly. But the issue only cropped up once the GPU was swapped out. So the problem has to be there.

He doesn't have WiFi on his desktop, I was just suggesting I bring up a key and try it out. He is wired directly into the router via ethernet cable.

its the Mobo or the OS screwed up some how (it happened with me before) check the network drivers reinstall if not i would normally go for the full reinstall of the os

Is there a network driver needed if it's via ethernet? Will I just run it through windows update and hope it picks up the right one or what?

there can be, mine did iirc, win update may pick it up but you may need to get the details of what model it is. is it a DIY pc or a prebuilt (dell)

I think it's a Dell model With some custom RAM and GPU in it. So ya, Dell model.

So I put in my GPU and connect the wires from PSU. When I turn it on the PSU makes a high pitch whine. Stops when I unplug it from GPU again. Any help is much appreciated

ok mobos arent the best but their not total ****

its appearing to dectect a network so id assume its drivers if those chips break they're normally dead

Id also check the Cable if it works to think of it may have been damaged when being removed

its really hard to tell without having eyes on it or info to go off

if you get stuck i later i should be on boards so drop a pm or post and ill lend any ideas

No bother, thanks. The cable was checked already, the ethernet cable was swapped to no avail. So the cabling is fine. I'm going to bring my wireless USB key anyways and see if I can get that working, if I can I know it's a physical hardware problem and not a software issue.

Sound like coil whine to me, sometimes the type of PSU you have can cause coil whine in your GPU.

It may be just a whiney card but if its from the psu its unusual for it to only happen when you add a gpu and then take it away

    B85
    G1820
    8gb ram
Added a super flower amazon. Came in a 550 watt box but has 650 on the PSU.
Added a 6950. it has 2 6pin connections. With none or one in no noise but when a 2nd is added the PSU gets brighter and starts to whine. I'm pretty sure its the PSU and not the gpu making the noise but its hard to isolate.

I get coil whine from time to time. It comes for a while and goes again, sometimes for weeks on end. It's been happening to me for two or so years, despite having changed the PSU and graphic card. It strange, when it does happen it stops while I'm scrolling a web page, and starts again when I stop. It's very slight though, you would barely notice it.

"Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Services service. This problem prevents limited users from logging onto the system. As an administrator user you can review the System Event Log for details about why the services didn't respond."

I have logged on as an admin and the event log is not running. Can't get an internet connection work via wireless or ethernet.

Anotuer symtom is abnormally slow bott up time (others getting this error have had the same issue with load times).

I am going to give system restore a shot.

Since I moved to h440, I obviously don't have a dvd drive anymore, but I HAVE one that can't be used in it. Is there any way I can boot something from a CD without having to drop €15 on an external one?

I have an internal one, and I have a laptop, if they're any help.

you could use a usb (os install i assume) or you could connect the internal drive and disconnect it when youre done

One of the Boardsies ( Brian ) brough Oculus Rift MK1 to my place today ( fair play to him )

So.... after using it for the first time what do I think about it: Its not a gimmick and the future, no buts, no excuses. Seriously thinking of buying mk2 developers version for myself right now.

MK1 biggest issue right now is resolution. Its just really bad. I am not talking 720p master race bad, I mean when playing Asseto Corsa, you cant even see a corner in front of you.

The one worrying thing - I dont think mk2 1080p will be enough for comfortable consumer version.

All in all, this is amazing technology. Its not a bull**** 3D TV crap.

P.s. I nearly puked 2 times while playing HL2 :pac:

Same here. Last I heard my course co-ordinator would be playing with it over Easter, so I'm hopefully I can get my hands on it in a week or two.

Oh yeah, just a tip for all people who try out Oculus Rift for the first time: don't go for war thunder as your first experience and don't do a barrel roll while at it. I almost gave my breakfast right there.
