I just did one and got the option to print a label. Are you sure you did it correctly?

Did it again and I spotted it, totally missed it earlier. The printed label has UPS written on it and a bar code. So does that mean I have to send it via UPS only or can I send it via An Post?

When I did it was organised such that UPS collected it from me, free of charge :) You'll habe to go to the UPS site and organise a returns andthey will pick it up from your residence :)

Right lads, upgrade to a 770 during the Summer or wait for something new?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Wait and see for the moment. It'll depend on what the rumour mill is churning out around then. At the moment though, I'd be leaning towards waiting for something new, just because of how damn well the 750Ti performs.

Good point actually, won't be buying until June/July anyway

Free game, kind of like a basic kerbal space program esque game. Looks promising, but it seems to be out of sync with my screen resolution(Hard to describe)

AMD finally release official 14.4 WHQL driver with Mantle, bit crazy considering how long ago it was announced,Mantle that is. Especially since Nvidia have already released their response to it.

Ive been holding off using Mantle as im running CF and im not bothered with the 14.x beta drivers as there seems to have been issues with CF so been using 13.12 for ages now.

Finally gonna get to put up some results in the Mantle thread from ages ago. Be good if some people could even put up some before/after results using the latest Nvidia drivers and compare to see which driver gives the most gains.

Unfortunately on the AMD side can only test BF4,Thief and Star Swarm benchmark so any Nvidia guys would have to keep that in mind.

Quick question folks, when I get a replacement motherboard, will I have to contact Microsoft since my OS was installed in a new build with the faulty returned board? And will I have to re-install the OS again?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,930 ✭✭✭✭challengemaster

If its the exact same motherboard brand/model/chipset, there's a good chance you won't actually have any issues at all. It may just boot up and say nothing.

If in doubt, create a system image just incase you need to restore to it from a fresh install (assuming it's not a clean install to begin with)

I will be getting the same motherboard, same model ect. I saved a system back up onto an external drive so would that be O.K.?

What's the difference between a system back up and a system? Is one better?

And should I wipe the existing C drive when I get the new motherboard and just re-install the system back up/image from the external drive onto it?

Again sorry about all the questions, but I'm trying to get away from my reliance on my brother.

Any one know of a decent speaker system (not 5.1) for around £200? im leaning towards the Audio engine A2+ but would like to check to see if anyone has other ideas

Heard pretty good things about Corsair's one. Haven't heard it in person though.

I got these studio monitors around that price a few months ago:

They actually look a lot better on my desk than in those pictures. The sound quality is fantastic.

I'm looking around myself, don't like the idea of having to pay the extra 40-50 euro for rubber wedges for the audio engine 2+, they should come free with the speakers. I'm leaning towards these ruark audio mr1, they get good reviews.

Still haven't got around to replacing my h100 with the dodgy pump or my ram that reads 30gb rather than 32. Anyone ever deal with gskill when it comes to replacing stuff under their lifetime warranty?

Are you sure with your ram that 2gb of the ram is not assigned by something else? Does it fully show in the bios?
Also if it works different fan headers there is nothing wrong with your h100?
Its very unlikely that only one of the 2gb modules would fail as a full stick would generally fail instead.

It's one of the noisy h100s in a huge batch that they admitted were all faulty, when the pump turns off it's completely silent. Can be fixed with a resistor but I'd rather get it replaced since there's the 5 year warranty anyway.

The 2gb doesn't show in bios either and the stick shows as not being [ok].

ah, okay I taught this was the same issue I was talking about recently with a h series pump not working when connected to specific fan headers nm then :P.
Thats strange, you would expect ram not to be detected at all if it had a damaged module?

Yeah the pump works its just really loud, here's a video I posted ages ago showing just how loud it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGyjUs8wz-Q

Yeah the ram confused me and the system became unstable at the old overclock so i've dropped it back to 4.4 ghz now and pretty much forgotten about the ram problem, but its probably ruining my performance but I haven't really noticed because I don't benchmark

Well this... is actually really interesting:

    BenQ_BL3200PT_01.jpg

BenQ are launching a 32", 2560x1440, VA monitor. USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, 4ms, 3000:1 SCR, and price of around €600. I'm actually really liking it.

    http://www.techpowerup.com/200292/benq-readies-the-bl3200pt-32-inch-amva-monitor.html

The same thought crosses my mind with this as with every other monitor I've looked at recently: That's cool, but Y U NO G-SYNC?!!

Did you buy your speakers yet? I came across these below, get good reviews, might take a punt on them.

The Corsair SP2500 2.1 speaker system gets very good reviews. £163 from Pixmania. I was gonna buy these very ones before I went with a new headset instead.

Noctuas high end air coolers have always been trading blows with the liquid coolers. i usually choose the liquid coolers since the large air coolers take up so much damn space

I ended up going with the SP2500 and am quite happy with them after i found the source of the whine in them

Subwoofer is ****ing huge and eveything is working nicely with my mixer its a shame the remote functionality seems to be neglected by corsair but thats all i found wrong

also realised i hadnt installed sound drivers in the pc ive been using for a year lol

Just worked out how to view webpages in 3D in Firefox. :) Hold down Ctrl + Shift + I for the Inspector console and select the 3D cube on the right hand side.

    Should look like this:

    305397.JPG

I can't seem to click any links, so it seems to be a static rendering. Haven't tried any other pages yet.

Also not much cheaper either, just surprised they could get that performance on air none the less.

On a side note i love the look of this GPU,reckon if prices on it get reasonable(dam bitcoins:mad:) im gonna snap one up and add another down the line, not a massive fan of the blue on the shroud,id prefer red,but i can get over it hopefully. Was looking at 780's awhile back but ive decided to go with the common concensus here and go the 290 route, and when it looks like this im very happy with that!

    305439.jpg

    305440.jpg

Im prepared to hold off for a bit,im hoping Maxwell in whatever form it may take(28nm or 20nm)might push prices down a little on AMD's current range, can only hope!

Heres a kitguru review for both R9 280X and R9 290 Vapor-X for anyone interested
