zomg ****in weather! So the delivery driver tried to deliver my cards to my nearest parcel motel yesterday afternoon but there was a power outage due to the storms and he couldn't make the delivery!

:EDIT: nvm, got the text about 15 min after this post, they're here!

AMD drops prices for R7 line

R7 260X benchmark for comparison. That's pretty impressive for the price.

R7 240 could be pretty impressive for HTPC at 50 eur price point- it's low profile, should be able to cool passively using only case cooling, 30W TDP. Shouldn't be too hard to find a low profile bracket, too. Seen few on ebay, but would prefer a solid source instad tbh.

EDIT: Altho here's a question - wouldn't APU still be a better choice for HTPC?

For those with older hard drives, this might be of interest.

I just replaced my 1TB 7200RPM Samsung F1 with a 1TB WD Green, and this is what the benchmarks look like:

    NryCoqdl.png

Both drives held the same data. What I find really surprising is that the 5400RPM one even won on access times.

Is the new drive a 1 platter drive and the old one multiple platters? If so maybe that would explain the difference?

I'd figure that would affect read/write speeds, rather than access times. With the latter, you're probably talking read head seek, etc. It is a 1TB platter drive though, AFAIK.

Oh, and the thing is as good as inaudible as well, in comparison to my extremely loud F1.

Im presuming the data gets written from the outside of the platter inwards, so unless the drive is fairly full the access times should improve as well (due to the data density in the outer ring of the disk.

I had short stroked a raptor previously (long before getting ssds were affordable) it made a difference alright, just nothing compared to when i got my first ssd (6 years later!)

Can anyone find this XFX 850watt Proseries XXX Semi Modular PSU in stock somewhere and reasonably priced? Or an alternative PSU 850 watts or higher and semi modular for around the same money?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

    Do you actually need 850W?

Edit: You can get the non-modular one from dabs.

Edit 2: Modular for €6 more.

Sold my 270x! I still don't know between 290 and 780.. 290 seems like an obvious better choice for high resolution?

Bloodbath: NCase M1 and an mPCIE-> PCIE x1 adapter. Much smaller. ;)

So Titanfall runs on Xbox One at 792p to be precise. How backwards.

It is more sad, that the game is actually not as good as it was Hyped to be...

I wont bother getting it unless its on sale or all of my teamspeak/vent buddies decide to all buy it.

I watched TB and frankie's gameplay and I loved it, not sure why the hate, I think it's way more fun than bf3 or cod series, since there are some similarities. Definitely gonna get it if the price is right.

Don't think many people really hate it, it just doesn't live up to all the hype is all. It's a pretty fun game all the same but at €60 I don't think I'll be picking it up anytime soon.

What actually got me is the wall running and mobility overall, always loved fast paced old school games like UT and quake series, the new generation of war genre games kind of killed it for me (except for Arma series (ace mod)), super glad to see the good old nonsense back. Add pilotable mechs in the mix and you got a good game.
Really craving for instagib freeze tag game with grappling hooks and railguns.

So far the "very strong" fans on Titanfall are very Defensive and jump on anyonws throat who is not on a the hype train.
I am not saying it is a BAD game, but it is not the next best thing since BlowJob was invented as some people making it to look like. Its an Okay game, but thats about it.

I wonder does it have much to do with me just being tired of basic multiplayer formula at this stage. Rust is a Huge eye opener for me, which made me get my faith back in to gaming as I spent 75h playing it in less then 2 weeks! I found myself just wasting my time on boards/youtubes and checking random **** and not playing games much lately. I am not even talking about PS4 which has a good layer of dust on it, I even had to clean up manually vent holes. Damn, my PS vita getting more gametime lately and thats says a lot.

It sells and it won't change until people realizes that it has been all the same from the start with some tweaks and changes. From their economics perspective i'd say it is kinda dangerous to experiment with new things - that's where indie devs come in.

Rust was ok, but it generally lacks many features from the game it's been designed after - DayZ epoch mods. I spent well over 300h playing epoch and many more hours playing origins mod before it went bad...
7 days to die was a nice twist to sandbox survival, I loved the fact that zeds can bash trough walls, but all the spike trap nonsense kills it for me... still had a good laugh playing it as we were mostly exploring map rather than camping a single house 24/7

Stuck in the exact same boat as you at the moment shadow. No new games catching my eye. Just couldn't get into BF4 multiplayer. Then i put 60 hours into Final Fantasy 7 in the last week!! New games just seem to be too easy or something!

Rust is amazing, plain and simple. For a game, that is only 10% done and in alpha - it's already more of a game then most triple A shiete out there. I played in total of 60h of bf4 since launch, 10h of ghost. 75h of Rust in less then 10 days.
Rust is like Eve online. It's a game for people who find their own adventure and fun in games, if you want to be lead and get your hand holden then you should feck off right away.
Thanks to Rust I discovered a fantastic bunch of lads from boards.ie that now I want to play even more stuff together. In rust we had so many epic unscripted moments that had our hearts racing, adrenaline explosions and over all huge satisfaction. Feck, one of our epic adventures did not even had a single kill after a fire fight, but it was mad and fun night that no one expected. Once I even spared 2 newbie life's and helped them out, I could have killed them in few seconds if I wanted, but I didn't. Ability not to kill and have an actual social situation in gaming made me rediscover love in games. That is more then any titanball will ever achieve with multimillion budget.
These days I prefer a,game where you might kill one person in 10 hours, then have another stupid mindless mass murdering meaningless multilayer match.
