Also no way are these things worth 65e or whatever they were orginally.

    I'm thinking that too.

After getting one and having a look at it... I can't quite understand how this could ever be 60 odd euro.

I think THAT was the misprice and the real price should be what it is now... around 3.99.

I mean, it's just a piece of relatively large plastic with a mini-usb and USB connector. If you don't have a usb/mini USB device to charge, then you're going to need to buy an adaptor for it.

Go to the Duracell website to see what they are going for.

the chargers are all the same price.............3.95,that should tell you that something is not correct with Tescos pricing of the chargers.
Ive seen the instant chargers in Limerick advertised for 44 yet scan up at 3.95,The pocket ones priced differently also to the scan price.

Check the price in the US definitely a mis-price by Tesco.
Even the small ones are $23.99

Tesco in Longford have load of them but they are scanning at the right price now. Sure I didn't need it anyway!!:D

Those kind of items have a history of being much cheaper in the US. If you look at online vendors in the UK, both on eBay and elsewhere, the price has been around £30-£40 Sterling.

I'd never pay that, the battery isn't that strong, the case design is flawed, the idea of having Leds switching on when you're using a battery is a bit daft.

I notice the 'new' smaller charger has no lights and a much simpler design, all black, with just an on-off switch, as it should. The one that scans at €19.99\€19.95.

Maybe you guys are right about the pricing.

I just can't personally value it at anything more than, say, €10-€15.

But maybe there are people that'd be willing to pay 64.99 for it?

Maybe the OP was one of them and that's how they spotted the misprice! :)

Nope, OP here and OP is a cheap bastard :)
I randomly check items in tesco that I think could be mispriced on the scanner, in the hope that it scans at a higher price then the shelf price. If it is, i buy it, then off to customer service i go, getting my money back, and the item free. I would never have paid 64.99 for it. I'd say 5 euro would have been a fairer price.

Does this happen often? Regarding higher scan price than shelf price?

how does that work, i mean what do you say to customer service?

PS, all the chargers gone in Bettystown, infact the entire battery area was cleared out

Often enough that i do it! Especially on marked down items or multibuy deals. Or if you see two items that are identical, but shows 2 prices on the shelf, another worthy one to check.
Also the meat section, sometimes they update the price on shelf but not on sticker, so another place to check.

Hello, i bought this a moment ago, its shelf price is 99 cent, but i was charged 1.20. I would like my refund please. Often they will try to offer you just the difference in price, but you are entitled to the full amount.

It comes from tescos no quibble policy, which is generally on a large sign of the wall at each tesco customer service.

    No Quibble Policy

Our "No Quibble Policy" is our way of showing customers that we always charge the right prices in our stores. It states that: "in the unlikely event of you being charged a price at the checkouts that is higher that the price mounted on the display, we will give you that item absolutely free and without quibble".

I picked up two of them in Tesco Paul St in Cork yesterday, figure they'll make handy xmas pressies :) Was still a few there as far as I remember & the prices was €3.95 as I checked it on one of the scanners before going to the checkout.

more often than people realise. Celtic tiger cubs however didn't notice mispricing of €€€€€€s elsewhere so were unlikely to notice on their breakfast rolls etc.

"in the unlikely event of you NOTICING being charged a price at the checkouts that is higher that the price mounted on the display,".
    Fixed that for them

Think they brought this "No Quibble refund" policy in about 10 years ago in Ireland after being quite publicly found and fined for mispricing. Seems to be going longer in the UK.

They carry such a large range and keep changing prices so often mistakes are probably inevitable.

Some staff seem to have their own interpretation but if you feel you are getting nowhere or just offered a refund of the difference, just ask for a (real) manager. No point argung with somone in broken English who is getting paid peanuts. (looks back at spelling, grammar and wage slip and thinks that could mean me:o) The whole idea may be at odds with traditions in other countries. Security staff sometimes part time as store managers but may not be au fait with policy.
Never get angry or raise your voice when asking for a refund, polite insistence works far better all round.

They brought in pricecheck scanners but the one in our local Tescos has never worked since it was installed maybe 3 years ago. You have to ask for pricechecks at the till.
You must pay first before pointing out a misprice for refund. Otherwise you are just charged the correct price.

Be careful you are quoting the correct shelf price because they csn stock wrong product on the same shelf space just to, and I quote "take the bare look off the shelf" or face out (where they move stock to the front of shelf, with nothing behind)

It is a different situation but it is illegal to have no clear price on a product on the shelf,
    IANAS (I am not a shopkeeper :D)

Re Tesco - the till at Tesco Waterford Shopping Centre put up an incorrect (higher) price for something the other day - I queried it and had quite a lot of difficulty to get them to go check it - they came back and agreed the marked price on the shelf was lower - BUT sorry I do not get it for free 'cos I hadn't actually passed across my cash so they hadn't overcharged me! Apparently I should have kept my mouth shut, paid for it then walked over to the Customer Service desk and complained!

Yes that is correct. You have to pay for the item first- they havent overcharged you if you havent actually paid for it.

"Pocket" was the only one scanning at 3.95 in Bray yesterday. All others are full price.
