I think he's taking a treatment to "cure" his homosexuality.

I feel sorry for Thomas actually.

I think Ms Bunting is an obnoxious rude witch in socialists clothing.

And was Lord Grantham ever likeable? He is completely dismissive of the feelings and sensitivities of his wife, his daughter Edith, and his bereaved son in law.

This is the problem with Downton, we're 3 episodes in & nobody's story has moved on.
Then the Christmas Episode will be a massive expose & payoff.
They need to stop doing that.

I actually harbour violent thoughts towards her. What a vile little individual!

What I don't understand is, Branson is only kind of luke warm towards her at best but the women of Downton keep forcing her on him.
Are they trying to get rid of him and hope to keep the grandchild?

I'd never get tired of slapping mrs bunting

The Earl went miles up in my estimation when he read her the riot act and stormed out.
First mention of the Nazis last night - they only get more prominent after the trial of Hitler and co. in Munich so that's a new avenue opening up.

Does anyone else find Edith annoying?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,906 ✭✭✭SarahBM

I've been avoiding the thread for 2 wks coz I had missed the last two eps . Finally got caught up last night.
    1. Poor Edith. I know everyone says it but my heart really breaks for her. she is in an awful situation and has absolutely no one to turn to.
    2. Bunting is b*witch - I don't care how forward thinking and before her time she is supposed to be, you don't go into someone's house and chastise everything they say, especially after you have been warned. She is just rude.
    3. Love Richard E Grant.
    4. Mary is in trouble now!!! LOL serves her right!!!

Forgive my forgetfulness, but I've been trying to figure out

    a) who exactly knows about Edith and the child? Granny for sure and Aunt Rosamund - was that it? Did her parents know???

    b) who knows/suspects that Bates (allegedly) killed Green? Or that Green raped Anna, therefore giving him a motive? Anyone outside of Mrs. Hughes and Anna?

    I really should concentrate more!

Is Edith's partner actually confirmed dead or is he just disappeared and assumed to be?

Disappeared, presumed dead. I'm guessing but I'm predicting
that he is alive and in the Nazi party, that there might be storyline involving him as WW2 draws nearer in the series. I think Edith might crack and abscond to Germany with the baby if she finds out her partner is still alive and in Germany, her current distress seems to be paving the way for that

The Dowager Countess, Aunt Rosamund, and the Farmer who adopted the baby know about Edith (he guessed). Then Mrs. Hughes found out by accident. Nobody else knows about the baby.

    Lady Mary knows/suspects also.

Mary knows Anna was raped. And possibly Lord Gillingham knows something happened because Mary told him never to bring his valet back to Downton. And if Mary pisses him off by successfully dumping him, he might sing like a canary!

Ms.Bunting makes it a bit more real... like realistically the whole village would hate them...

Thought she should have stayed otherwise what was the point of her. Was she just there to remind Branson of his beliefs? Is he getting too sucked into the Crawley world.

The cheek of Carson telling Daisy to get lost when she was chatting to Branson. For all he knew it was Branson who called her up. Would he have done the same if she was talking to His Lordship?

Downton is pretty boring this year. I might be missing something but what is the point of Rose's Russians. Is it just to show us that the Dowager Countess had a past? And someone once fancied her. Boring.

Hope Edith grows a pair and demands her daughter back. Do not like the woman looking after her. How dumb is she not to have twigged that Edith is the mother? Especially after she brings her aunt to see the girl.

I can see where Miss Bunting is coming from with her opinions but she's just been downright rude since she showed up. If she feels that strongly about them why does she insist on going to dinner there? Just to wind up Lord Grantham at the first given opportunity? Good riddance to her.

I think the Russians are just there to show that someone owns a history book. It's like when they used to occasionally mention Ireland in the earlier series. They're not going to get too heavily involved in any of it but it gives a couple of the minor characters something to do.

Does anyone else feel like they've just kept writing for Sybil but had Rose do it all. Like pretty much all of Rose's story lines you could see Sybil doing them if they hadn't killed her off.

Ooh!! I didn't see it that way but now I do! Very clever :).

Only catching up now. Woohoooo the bunting woman has gone.
Wish they wouldn't carry on with being suspicious about Anna. I don't like mr bates, hes a kind of stalker, but anna is lovely
The farmers wife is annoying me, she's so rude

    Caught up on this tonight.

Do we actually know (or "know") who killed Green??? I'm so confused with that whole storyline I'm beginning to wonder if I missed an episode along the way somewhere!

Poor Cora was very hard done by, she was a bit naive, but looks like she'll be getting the cold shoulder for the rest of this series!

I'm peering through my fingers from behind the couch to see what scheme Edith will come up with for that poor child. All I know is, it won't end well

Good riddance to Miss Bunting from me as well.

As far as we know it looks like Mr Bates did it. Mrs Hughes found the train ticket to london when he said he was in York, and Mary burnt it.
Id say the cold shoulder for Cora wont last long, especially as the Dowager Countess has noticed. Anyway he cant moan, Lord Grantham nearly had an affair with a maid not long ago.
I dread to think what scheme Edith will think of next, sometimes she's her own worst enemy.
