Could I get the recipe for that?

I ordered a burger last night and I had to order a starter too to get to the minimum delivery price, so I had that for lunch today. I'd have taken a photo if there weren't people in the canteen; hummus, olive tapenade and crudités, and a side salad. I am sooooo full and happy right now.

Sure, I just sweated off a little bit of garlic in some olive oil, poured in some cream, simmered away while I was putting fresh tagliatelle into boiling water, added prawns to the sauce, just to heat them up. Seasoned with tiny bit of salt, lemon juice and loads of black pepper and done :)

Homemade veg soup, into which I stirred some leftover cooked basmati rice. Not sure what to call the result but it was a hearty bowl of deliciousness

I've thought about doing this to bulk out soup if I'm cutting down on wheat, but always then though "Nah!". Was it weird?

I'm really one for the simple and quick dishes at the moment, that can be just thrown together from whatever is left in the fridge. So I had a hearty veg and sausage soup that just hit the spot.

A handful of pearl barley is great for bulking out soups and stews too and tastes great.

I think I put in slightly too much rice so the texture wasn't as 'soup-like' as it should have been, but tastewise it was lovely. Kept me full for ages as well!

A bit stuck for lunch ideas these days. Work doesn't allow a fridge, microwave or BYO hot food. Currently throw an ice pack into my lunch box (if I remember to) and that's about it. Could buy lunch in supermarket/shops, but that's about a 30 minute round trip by foot, I generally don't bother.

What about heating up a soup or stew or similar, and putting it into a Thermos flask in the morning? Should still be hot by lunchtime!

Carrot soup. Grated 8 carrots, and finely chopped an onion. Into a pot to soften for 8 minutes. Then threw in a cup of lentils, about 150g. Stirred that up for a few more minutes. Added a litre of chicken stock, a teaspoon of cumin and chopped corriander. The whole lot was done in an hour. Deadly.

Coca cola chicken wings from the cooking club, skinny fries, garlic toastie, beetroot, tomato and leafy greens. Yummy stickiness from the chicken marinade spooned on top of salad.

On Saturday I was at a brunch given by some pals here in Bern. It was quite awesome - Prosecco, juices, great coffee & Barry's Tea from home. Homemade breads & jams, blinis & caviar (brought by my Russian pals), slow-roasted pork belly with red currant & chilli jelly, baked local ham, pork, lamb & beef sausages, 3 types of croissants, a selection of Swiss & Spanish cheeses, apfelkuche, muesli & fruit salad.

Smoked salmon with cream cheese on Ryvita-type things. Better than I expected, tbh. :)

Am on my holls at the moment so lunch today was mortadella, jamon iberico, bread, gouda, melon, boquerones (pickled anchovies, not salted), olives, and an orange for dessert. Served up with a decidedly meh glass of the local red.

Since I don't really want to shell out for 500ml of washing up liquid that I can't bring home with me, does anyone know if it's safe to do the washing up with shower gel? (she asked, only half joking)

My first day off work in what feels like forever, alway have home made soup for lunch in work.

Still in my p.j.'s and had a fried cheese & chili relish sandwich.

Not had one in about ten years, the taste outweighs the guilt, but gonna take the dog for a very long walk soon,

Today we went to Nando's for lunch.

We got a sharing platter with chicken, chips, coleslaw and garlic bread, we also got the wing roulette.

We were both hungover so it was lovely and comforting. Can't wait to go back again, was years since I'd had a Nando's, almost forgot how delicious the food is. Yum.
