I don't know what's more nerve racking, waiting on the flight (I'm a lil scared of flying) or waiting for a phone call about the job...

This is about last night but it's probably more off topic so I'll chuck it here.
We got talking about headphones and after hearing people talk about what they have and what they recommend, as usual a certain brand was prevalent.

Beats by dre: £223 on amazon.co.uk
    51-4HxA4utL._SL500_AA300_.jpg
Fanny Wangs (that is their name!): £114 on amazon.co.uk
    41gTGFQp2XL.jpg

They're essentially the same phone but one has been emblazoned with a certain rapper and automatically double in price. Even Harvey Normans have the Fanny Wangs for €150 and the Beats By Dre for €300. If you go on dealextreme and don't mind picking up a knock-off that might not arrive or could take up to 2 months, similar models are below $70. I hope this shows the blatant overcharging that Monster implement on Beats By Dre.

If you're looking for something that sounds good, other ones to look at are:

    Audio technica ath m-50
    Sennheiser hd 25-1 II
    Crossfade V-moda v80 or m80
    Sony mdr zx700

Have a read of this for a review of some good models. And be prepared to use ctrl + f a lot for this in depth review of almost 100 portable headphones.

Generally speaking the well known brands are reliant on their name and some of their cheaper stuff simply isn't worth it.

Have these and absolutely love them. Highly recommend these but my god are they expensive over here. Got mine in New York for around $180. Seen them here advertised for €280

They're good enough. I bought them as a present for a mate and he was happy with them. Bass dominates the sound but depending on the genres you listen to that could be a good thing. If the model you've got has a right angle jack that's good news, as that's where most earbuds break at so it should last a while.

The only thing I don't like about earbuds is the isolation is poor so you have to up the volume in loud areas but since they naturally leak sound, you still hear your surroundings and your surroundings hear you. You're on a path to hearing loss. The alternative is In Ear Monitors (IEMs) go into your ear and form a seal which means you can block out some background noise and not have to listen to your music at a high volume. The do take some getting used to (finding the right tip to fit your ear canal, having to loop the cable over your ear) but they're a step up above from earbuds.

Yeah I guess it clearly shows. I wasted enough money on crappy sets like the cheap sony in ears, fontopias, skullcandy ink'd, gi and fmj, etc. so seeing people make the same or similar mistakes/purchases is something I'd like to help them avoid. Nowt wrong moving up a rung in quality and not pay over the odds. I wouldn't be surprised if I wasted €300+ on crap headphones and earbuds which are broken and spent less than €200 on worthy stuff that still works.

If you're not getting tingles and cold shivers in the base of your neck whilst listening to your favourite songs then something isn't right with your audio equipment, that or else you're having a medical emergency.
