Thats a great idea. We could all go to the Slipper or something.

    Hey guys,

I'm Michael from Germany. I'm 22 years old and I'll study software-engineering (full time) at DCU!
I moved to Shanowen Hall about one week ago but didn't really meet new people yet (currently just one of my roommates moved in).
So I'd like to meet some of you. Don't know where the Slipper is. But if anyone marks it on google maps for me I'd be there :)
Will anyone be in Larkfield tonight?

It might help to know the actual name of the Slipper is Matt Wheldons (or something similar, I may have misspelled the last name) It has a blue front on it. You should go in the side door on the left to go to the back part.

locals don't call it that no, generally always referred to as the slipper. But I guess it would help for that guy since he's not local

    anyone else doing multimedia?

Looking for me? See you there!

I'm debating whether I should go to the balls and things that are not on the same day as any of the orientation meetings/lectures that I have. Just got off a plane from Boston, so a tad jetlagged, but the Knuts and Bolts Ball has me intrigued. A good way to change the fact that I don't know anybody going to DCU though!

Lads, do I need to bring anything with me at all tomorrow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 378 ✭✭Einstein?

Not really, you get a bag full of free **** from the SU so you don't need much.

I brought in an A4/pen/bag last year, and I wouldn't change that.

Copy and pen is all I have. Effort in a bag :pac:

    Thanks.

Count me in on the meet! Anybody want to call a day and time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,736 ✭✭✭OctavarIan

I'm game for a pint or two. Have orientation on Wednesday so I guess that day would suit me anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 647 ✭✭✭slasher_65

The meet is a general one, right? I have Orientation on Wednesday as well, so that makes two of us.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,359 ✭✭✭ldxo15wus6fpgm

Make that 3 :p Will we say 6pm?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,670 ✭✭✭✭Wolfe Tone

    Make that 4!

And I think Utd are playing that night too.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 647 ✭✭✭slasher_65

Right so, general boards meeting at 6pm in the place that is called The Slipper. See you all there! I am in favour of some sort of silly hat worn by somebody who gets there 5 minutes before the rest of us, so we can work out who is part of the meet.

I'd like to join your fresher union, only if fresher girls be present mk?

    Welcome Guys!

I'm Paddy, a final year JR student and I'm also editor of Flashback, the independent magazine here in DCU.

There is also a magazine, produced by the SU which is called Campus (it's weekly and has lots of information on clubs and socs and DCU events). The official college paper is The College View which has bigger, more in-depth articles and news surrounding the college =]

We will be around during freshers week and on the clubs'n'socs days with some examples of the magazine and stuff but anyone going into ANY course wanting to get involved with Flashback with writing or helping out on the team don't hesitate to contact us on flashbackdcu@gmail.com or on Facebook.com/Flashbackdcu!

[Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to be in a humanities course to write for any publication. It's always good to have writers with a broader, expert knowledge of certain areas like health, science, engineering etc]
